The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Tanka Bar Buffalo Cranberry Bar - 1 oz.:
I've been buying these bars since they came out for my family. my friends and for myself. They are complaining as well. My boys won't eat them anymore. It is a shock to all of us what they did to these bars, to what WAS once a perfect product. Now too wet, too messy and unpleasant. Slimy. Plain facts. Does not seem sustainable to your loyal customers. Why does business always have to ruin such good things? Guess we'll see if the new bright idea of a "sustainable product" actually works. I'm sure the 16% price bump to pay for the new packaging gizmos will be even a bigger hit. $115 to buy what used to cost $99. Sounds like what the banks and the insurance industry are doing to us.

I first saw these on the backpacker.com website. Although they are on the pricey side, they are quite tasty! I was expecting it to be dry & chewy the way beef jerky is, but I was surprised to find it much more moist & easy to eat. I prefer the regular to the hot pepper version which is also good but more peppery than spicy. I wish REI would sell them in multi-bar packs!

Comments about Tanka Bar Buffalo Cranberry Bar - 1 oz.:
Glad to have discovered Tanka Bars! I'm a person who prefers savory snacks on the trail. The usual selection of bars are typically sweet. They do the job, but aren't very appealing or satisfying to me. Jerkies tend to be too sweet and sometimes greasy. Tanka Bars are perfect. Although it might seem a bit pricey for the amount you get, I'm happy to support a Native owned and operated business working toward 100% grass-fed and prairie raised buffalo.

I get up early and by 8am im hungry and need a kickstart. I tried the tanka bar and was dissappointed...it gave me nothing no boost, did not even put a dent in my stomach and was still hungry. it reminded me of overpriced beef jerky

I like this better than any high-carb bar. I've only had them as snacks so far, but I can imagine the Habanero-induced endorphin release being a great addition to a runner's (or cyclist's) high.
I also like the social aspects of supporting Native-American businesses producing traditional products Finally, I especially like the historic appeal of eating what is essentially a lower-fat style of pemmican.

Very tasty, especially so for jerky. Perfect for day hikes or just as a snack. Also a good choice for those who seek to support social causes (in this case, supporting economic activities on Indian reservations). I always buy out the store when I see these bars.

While this bar does not pack 20g of protein, the 7g is balanced against 7g of carbs, plus it is only 70 calories, instead of the 190 to 200+ calories most protein bars have. For those on a weight loss program who need something in the middle of a workout or right after to make sure your body isn't being sacrificed to the effort, these bars are terrific, taste great and are moist, plus the meat flavor with the cranberry I find psychologically fills my need for protein. Also, you can leave them in the car for just in case times and not worry about a sticky mess when you open them up. These bars have helped me to lose over 78 lbs from November 2008. You do need to watch that you don't accidentally swallow the preservative packet that is on the inside with the bar when you take out the bar.
