I bought this jacket because I needed a warm jacket for an upcoming winter trip to Wyoming. This jacket might be OK as an outer layer, but it will not keep you warm unless it is not very cold outside. It only has minimal insulation.

I bought this jacket for general winter outdoors use. By itself, it was not warm enough. It might be OK if used as an outer layer; or, if used for Cross Country skiing where a lot of body heat is consistently generated. However, as a stand alone jacket for climbing, relaxed hiking, down hill skiing, birding, hunting, winter camping, or similar, it lacks sufficient insulation.

this is the best jacket i've ever owned. so incredibly thought out. the only possible thing that i can say is that the velcro is so heavy duty that it caught on some things like my base layer.
i love this jacket! it has a million pockets too! it's also very warm. i don't know how you can say this isn't a warm jacket especially if you layer.
