Comments about BDI Gel Bike Shorts - Men's - Special Buy:
Very disappointing.
I recently got back into cycling and go for 2 30+ mile rides each week. My behind was getting a bit sore so I decided to get some padded shorts. These were priced right so I gave them a chance. The waist fit fine, but the leg elastic was way too tight for me. I have pretty large thighs, but I imagine that is the case for anyone who regularly rides. I had to use my hands to stretch out the leg elastic so they wouldn't cut off my circulation. Once I did this they were much more comfortable.
My big problem with these shorts is not the fit, it is the padding. For the first few rides these were amazing. The gel padding was thick, squishy, and very comfortable. The problem is in the durability of the gel padding. After 10-15 rides, the gel has all clumped together on one side. Now my left cheek has no padding and my right has too much. I can't sit level on my seat, so these shorts are completely useless to me now.
I took great care when cleaning these shorts. I gently washed them and they have never been in a clothes dryer. Even with the care I took they did not hold up.

Comments about BDI Gel Bike Shorts - Men's - Special Buy:
Seeing the other comments, I was skeptical about the product. I have used several pairs for over a year now, without any problems or concerns. In fact, I just purchased another pair. The gel is comfortable, and for my use, has not fallen apart during regular use. I ride about 5 to 6 times a week, between 10 to 15 miles per outing. I do wash them regularly, and the older pairs have held up fine. They are tight on the thighs, but not uncomfortable. They are also tight enough to secure my leggings during the winter. All in all, quite pleased.

Comments about BDI Gel Bike Shorts - Men's - Special Buy:
My old pair of Sugoi shorts have finally worn out so I decided to try these. Last year I bought a BDI jersey and not only it was really nice, it was made in USA! How much bike clothing is out there in this price range that is made in USA? Well, unless you consider Mexico to be 51st state, these shorts are NOT MADE IN USA. (Don't misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with stuff being made in Mexico, just don't advertise it as being made in USA).
The size of the shorts feels smallish, which seems typical with bike shorts. I usually wear medium in normal shorts, but with these large size feels better.
The construction quality is uneven, panel and pad stitching is fine, however the stitching at the bottom is uneven and thread was sticking out in several spots. The fabric is typical - fairly thin and snags easily.
Not really a con, but if you are used to shorts that have a thin foamy pad, these will probably feel weird. The gel pad is THICK! It literally adds around 5mm to the saddle height, so you will feel like you need to adjust your saddle. And once you're off the bike, it feels like there is a wedge stuck in you know where.
Overall, other than the pad, the shorts felt comfortable. The quality is average, which is what you would expect for this price.
