The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. Member numbers are issued in one name and only that person receives the member refund. Your number can be used by others in your family, but it cannot be transferred to someone else.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
I had and used a ForeRunner 110 until if failed, just out of warranty. The 310XT I thought would be an enhanced version -- it is not. Firstly, it is not a watch: if you want watch functions, then you need to wear one as well as this thing. Secondly, it is not possible to connect it to a computer. Really! I tried for two days, on three computers and enlisting phone support. My wife tried too, and she has more persistence. We are both techies and I've been using cutting edge technologies for most of my life. I just don't understand how Garmin try to sell this at a higher price than the 110 and the thing just doesn't work as advertized. The in-watch features may work (I haven't tested them), but this is an expensive watch that is sold on the basis of beyond the watch features that just don't work.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
I use this during training as I train for mostly marathons and ultras. I love the battery life and wireless syncing feature. I've previously had a Garmin 305, so this was a great update from that. I do really enjoy the big screen allowing me to see a lot of different fields.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
I bought the 310XT after a great experience with the Edge 305. As a matter of fact, I had a good enough experience with the 305 that I opted to buy all of the extras for the 310xt, mistake.
The initial experience with the 310xt was great. I was very happy that I bought it, seemed much better than the 305 especially since I could wear it while running. Several months later and I am not so happy with it. The heart rate monitor is unreliable, main reason for buying it. The other components with it are so so, bike mount for handlebars and speed/cadence bike sensor. The sensor is hard to pick up and have to work for them to see one another. The bike mount....well, it is hard to take the watch off when transitioning to a run.
Since the hrm is the main reason for buying it, I have done quite a bit of troubleshooting by myself as well as with tech support. The final blow which has turned me off to the garmin product occurred after losing a screw in the transmitter for the hrm....a screw which is not a replaceable part and something even Garmin will not sell to me. So don't get un-screwed here.
One very important thing to note is to not expose it to sunscreen in the aerosol bottle. It degrades the case and strap which ultimately destroys the 310xt.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
Excellent device similar to my old Forerunner 305, but ....
Several calls were needed to Tech Support to get data to transfer properly from the device to the Garmin Connect software.
The "Mickey Mouse Ears" icon on my lower-right menu often has a red line, requiring me to restart the PC. An easy fix, but would be better if not necessary so often.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
I put on a UnderArmour cold gear shirt with the tight sleeves and the shirt got snagged on the unit. The band pin pulled completely out of the watch and broke off a section of the watch. I tried to glue it back together but nothing worked. So, I started having to carry it by hand. In the changing room before a run is slipped of the bench and landed on the floor. The front glass shattered. This is a piece of junk and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Also, the battery stinks. I would have it fully charged, use it once for an hour or two, then let it sit for a couple of days. When I returned it would be empty of charge.

Replaced 305 that I lost. Works in water and seems to be accurate while swimming.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
Excellent device:
My career is in the GIS&S (Geographic Information Systems and Services) industry. I have observed receiver technology for the last 15 years, and this device is very near the pinnacle regarding state of the industry technology. If you are looking for a device that monitors multi-function inputs for multi-sport activities, this should be very near the top of your consideration list. I have experienced flawless reception from my sensors and the GPS constellation (rapid acquisition). Further, I run cross-country and under heavy canopy cover during the late spring and summer: I have yet to loose a signal. Garmin's web-based data upload and display is an excellent product, but requires a bit of tweaking: manipulation of elevation profile along the route would be helpful, i.e. dragging along the profile returns an icon on the map. At the end of the day, you cannot go wrong with this product.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
I'm a casual user, I run 2-3 times per week, and I've been really impressed with the battery life. I can go for 6-10 runs between charging.
The custom configureable screens are really nice.
All in all this Garmin has been perfect for me.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 310XT GPS Fitness Monitor:
Based on REI excellent service and Garmin advertising ordered this product while I was traveling. REI beat their promised delivery date and it sat in the PO for a few days.
It was delivered with an outdated OS. Following Garmin instructions it would not update. "Tech Support" gave me new instructions. After that the device would upload to Garmin Connect but still would not download. When I told Tech Support about the one way communication they told me to make sure the device was turned on, the computer was turned on and it was not permitted to go to sleep. Guess they didn't realize both had to be on and connected to upload. This set the tone for mulitple emails that were filled with errors and wrong commands. Final was a phone call to Garmin that resulted in partial problem resolution. I was promised a phone call with rest of answers. That was three days ago and still no call. // The device may be good if a person lucks out and gets one that works and needs no Garmin asistance. To me that isn't worth the time or effort. // It was returned to REI.
