Comments about Oboz Sawtooth Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
Our family lives in Northern Alaska. We were flying to Hawaii for vacation with plans to hike part of the NaPali Coast, but by the time we arrived into Anchorage my old hiking boots began falling apart, literally. Went straight to REI in Anchorage, AK. After trying on several pairs of boots, I found these Oboz. They fit like a glove. No pinching, no pressure points -- I wore them out of the store, dropping my old boots in the trash on the way.
Even though these boots were brand new, my feet never got sore as I broke them in. it was only a week from the day I bought the shoes to the day of the hike. The shoes were great through the slick red mud of the trail and my feet didn't get wet stepping in the puddles -- I did make the 10 river crossings to the Hanakapi'ai Falls barefoot because I hate hiking with wet feet. These shoes never let me down even though we were hiking in March, during the rainy season.
These shoes were great. I wore them on all the other excursions we did in Kauai and the Big Island as well as back into Snow country. They had good traction on ice and snow as well.

FIrst of all, the guys AND gals in the footwear department at my REI store here in Colorado Springs, are very knowledgeable, engaging, patient and helpful with my selection.
This particular 'shoe' has exceeded my expectations. I definitely would recommend this brand to anyone looking for, needing, a rugged AND comfortable outdoor shoe.

Comments about Oboz Sawtooth Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought these right before a last minute trip to Arizona. I had procrastinated on buying a new pair of boots so this happened to be the only pair I really liked in the 2 hrs. I had to shop. The REI tech swore I wouldn't have to break them in and I was really skeptical so I bought some liner socks and mole skin just in case. Voila, no need to break them in! They served me well in my two days of hiking in Sedona and the Grand Canyon (in snow and ice mind you!).
If I had a complaint or two...they were stiff in the ankle a bit too much but eased up by the second day. Also, they are very waterproof and my feet did get warm/wet from sweat at times even in the snow.
Bottom line, I highly recommend these. The soles and heel especially feel solid and are top notch!

Comments about Oboz Sawtooth Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
I bought my first Oboz(Wind Rivers) last year to use at work(lineman for APS) and they were great. So I thought I'd replace the work boots with another pair of Oboz and get another pair for hiking. I went with the Sawtooth boot this time and am not disappointed.
Oboz is one of only a few boots I've worn that fit my foot like a glove. I can feel boot on every part of my foot. No gaps or spaces. It's as close to feeling like you're not wearing a boot as you can get. Comfortable to wear and work in.
Performance is awesome. Keep my feet dry( other than normal sweat), excellent traction. Can't comment on the wear and tear yet, still too new. But if they're anything like the Wind Rivers, I can expect at least a years worth of every day usage.
The only thing I would change if I had the chance would be to make the Sawtooth a "full" boot, not a mid. Would really like the added ankle support. That's the reason I gave four stars as opposed to five.

I used these boots all summer while working in the woods of northern Colorado. They held up really well to everyday use in rugged terrain. My feet were never uncomfortable and never got wet when walking through shallow streams. The sole has great traction. They could be a little lighter, but I never noticed them weighing me down on longer hikes. I'm sure it would be a bigger deal if I was using them for longer backpacking trips.

Bought these at the recomendation of an REI rep. Not knocking this guy, he provided as much info as he had. Initially I was thinking I had found a super new boot, but soon learned that my feet were soaked inside the boot and there was no wicking action at all. I wear different brands of boots, Asolo, La Sportiva and Keen and have not experienced this issue at the level I did with these.
I would recomend these to a freind whose feet don't sweat a lot....

First pair of hiking boots and I wore them everyday to work as well as the occasional hiking trip on the weekend. No break-in time, comfortable, and still holding up well after a year of use.

This boot was a great fit. I hike six days a week and never had a problem with my toes getting smashed on the downhill because it fits snug. The only thing I was disappointed with is the toe started pilling back after the first week. Fixed it up with some Gorilla Glue and all is well.

Comments about Oboz Sawtooth Mid Hiking Boots - Men's:
Bought these because of the aggressive heel build. I tend to roll my ankles a lot and was needed something for good support. The boots offer good support for my ankles. Unfortunately, they are not waterproof. I went for a hike this weekend 8 miles round trip, and started out really early. There was quite a bit of fog and morning dew along the mountain trail and my feet were soaked not even a 1/2 mile into the hike. Very disapointed!!
