Rated5out of5byratbatfromPretty amazingThese being my first pair of convertible pants I was wary of the zipper chafing. This was not a problem. I have gone back to purchase another pair of these pants, I liked them so much. They are warm, durable and easy to wash in the field. Comfortable to sleep in on those cold nights.

Rated5out of5byErwinMfromExcellent Pants - recommendedThe North Face makes quality gear and these pants are no exception. Waist and length are very true to size. Unfortunately I fall right between the S and M, but what can you do? I wore them in light rain and water beaded up. Very comfortable. Buy them.

Rated4out of5byNOVAhikerfromGood Pants for the moneyThis is my third pair of North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants. This time, the waist seems to be a little more generous than the other two pair. I can still use them, just need to adjust the belt a little tighter.

Rated4out of5byMatthew WfromAlmost PerfectI've used these for a month now, on about 10 long hikes and some around town stuff. Fit is perfect at 34/30. Front and rear pockets are great in that they are a solid material, but don't add bulk. The zipper pocket is mesh, but good for credit card, ID, etc., and the cargos are mesh too. So far no problems with zippers, and the leg zipper pulls are color coded so you can easily tell left & right without effort. These pants are as advertised and the heavier material is perfect for cooler early season hikes, but still breath when the sun is out. Only problem; the built-in belt is internal all the way around and rolls over except in the front, and the clasp is plastic which might not take a good hit. But the external loops can accommodate a full size belt if need.

Rated4out of5byRaging BotrychiumfromDecent, but slighly flawedOverall, these are decent pants, but flawed. I had a really great pair of North Face pants I bought years ago that were discontinued. I measure all others by that pair.
These are are the best pants I've found recently. Most importantly, they are very comfortable and fit well. Very few pants do that.
On the down side. They have velco on the back pockets. This is pretty much worthless as the velcro pops open whenever I bend over, assuming it even sticks to begin with. Back pockets should always have zippers or a button!
They also wear out very quickly. They will last about 6 months with heavy use. The stitching held, but the cloth itself got really holey. Considering that the old North Face pants that I loved lasted about 3 years under the same conditions, that is pretty bad.

Rated5out of5byWelchfromExactly as advertisedGreat pair of pants. I have used them for hiking. But I also find myself wearing them around the house on a daily basis. I plan to buy more pairs.

Rated4out of5byBogus MaximusfromSolid, rain-resistant, comfortableThese pants are great. I wore one pair through all four days of the Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu. They seemed to resist both dirt and rain, were warm enough when the temperature dropped at the summit but breatheable enough that I never felt hot, and were very comfortable. The only thing keeping them from getting five stars is the lack of a zippered, hidden, or other "stash" pocket- somewhere to keep money or a passport while traveling where pickpocketing is a concern. I plan to buy at least one more pair before my next trip.
