Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This is the perfect backpacking cup. It folds flat, so fits in my pot. It has a large capacity, keeps hot beverages hot and cold beverages cold. Keeps its shape when you're using it, and the rim rigid. I've used it for making muffins by placing it upside down in my pot to get the muffins out of the boiling water. It works amazingly well.
My only teeny complaint is that the measurement gradations are a bit hard to read, but it only takes a couple of times when you've got the 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 1 cup lines down.
I've become a real believer in Sea-to-Summit gear. This is another hit.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This is a great idea for a lightweight cup for hiking and camping. Unfortunately, it has a fatal flaw.
Pros: It is lightweight and collapses flat. It is not only easy to pack, but its diameter makes it perfect to fit into many pots of the 850ml to 1 liter size. It can handle boiling water and even be boiled or steamed itself. The internal measurement markings are helpful (if a bit too obscure). The nylon rim ring makes it easy to hold even with hot drinks in it and gives it a good shape.
Cons: It has one fatal flaw - it retains the smell of food you put in it, which then contaminates every thing else you put into it. The odor lingers forever.
I have had two of these: the first was used for tea and coffee with camping. After a winter of storage, it picked up a horrible odor from the pot it was stored in. I had to discard it, thinking was just an anomaly.
The new one I got then immediately picked up the odor of its first hot meal of shrimp ramen. Nothing has gotten rid of this smell: dishwashing, handwashing, boiling, lemon & vinegar cleaning, baking soda, nothing.
Bottom Line: Despite its many wonderful features, it fails the fundamental test of any kitchen equipment: it makes things taste worse.
I sincerely hope Sea to Summit solves this serious odor problem with the silicon body of the cup, which is othewise well designed. But until then the only thing it is useful for is drinking water from.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
I used this during a winter climb in the Sierra Nevada mountains last year. I purchased this product because it was compact and lightweight. During the climb, we were caught in some pretty nasty weather and had to dig in. My group squeezed into the larger tent to cook and hang out and wait out the storm and this is when I realized I had not made the best choice. The plastic is so thin it was uncomfortable to hold and yet I could not set the collapsable bowl down for fear of spilling in the tent. I found it difficult to clean as well. I would say this is a decent product unless you are confined to a tent as I was. The risk of spill is too great and in tight quarters and near below zero temps, a spill would not have been cool. Despite bulk, I will use a mug with a lid for all future alpine climbing.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This cup was applealing to me because it is lightweight and compact. After using it on only a few trips it started leaking. I think it may be a wise choice to invest in something a little more solid.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
I got the cup and the bowl for backpacking. While they pack down nicely, they really attract dirt, which ends up clinging to it. I will use them as dog bowls now and use a non-collapsable metal or plastic bowl for myself when going backpacking.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
Looked like a great buy at first but disappointed on the very first backpacking trip. The cup is made from a material that has a tendency to attract dust and dirt via static electricity. Its virtually impossible to keep clean. It would be a great product if it wasn't for this problem.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
I got these because they could fold flat and not take up much space. I found them even more awesome when I discovered the gradient lines for measuring = cooking aid.
Its also awesome to be able to toss these cups or slide them across the bench while they're flat without worry that I'm gonna break it.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This cup was great for a recent trip to North Cali. Perfect for hot chocolate and oatmeal, in fact it was the only thing we used (no bowls or plates). Then collapses into nothing, perfect to stash into your cooler/kitchen bag.

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This is a cool little mug. I got it to use in conjunction with my Sea to Summit X-Bowl, which I also love. It folds down nice and flat and fits inside the X-Bowl. It is just about as heavy as a non-collapsible hard plastic cup is. For being as small and lightweight as it is, it has a lot of capacity. I think that if I wanted to, I could ditch the X-Bowl and eat out of the mug too, it's so large. The mug didn't get too hot, even with near-boiling water in it. Great for keeping you warm with some hot chocolate on chilly mornings!!

Comments about Sea to Summit X-Mug:
This is the most versitle item in my backpack. Great for coffee, tea, juice, and doubles as a small bowl as well. It weighs next to nothing and takes up zero space in my pack.
