Comments about Buck Silver Creek Utility Knife:

First of all, REI describes this as an Utility knive..... which is is not! Buck make this knife for one thing, cutting bait. It's main design is for salt water fishing because of the salt resistant (titanium) coating. The plastic sheath was designed for water drainage and I agree that the belt clip is useless.... but I don't carry my bait knife on my side when salt water fishing.... I keep it with the bait. One bad design feature is that the handle's bolster guard is made of stainless steel... which will corrode quickly in salt water. Other than that, it's a GREAT bait knife.

Comments about Buck Silver Creek Utility Knife:

I liked the grip and the feel...the sheath looked like it was from an 80's movie, but fine, it worked. It came super sharp when I bought it and it worked well for a few months of light use. I was camping in the Black Hills the other day cutting up some wood and the blade broke right in the middle. These are cheap, and not even worth buying. Spend more money and it will last longer, or else you'll just be spending more 2 months from now.

Comments about Buck Silver Creek Utility Knife:

I wanted a good general purpose knife for backpacking and this was what I found available last minute at just the right size. It's a decent fishing and light camp knife, but I think it would break easily if pressed into tougher duty. It's sharp enough to cut rope, cut kindling shavings, etc., but I didn't feel like it would hold up well. It's light and you can tell it isn't full tang. The clip on the sheath is better than I first thought. If you clip it to a double strap on a pack or to your pants with the sheath inside your pocket it works okay, otherwise drawing the knife pulls the sheath with it right off of whatever it is clipped to. There is a nub on the sheath that I got into the habit of pressing my thumb against to more easily push back when drawing. So, decent for light duty, but I would have preferred to spend the [$] on a knife that will last.

Comments about Buck Silver Creek Utility Knife:

I bought this knife for a survival course, and it broke on the first day. The [*] goes down to less than 1/2 an inch wide just inside the handle, and this weak point led to a broken knife and a cut finger.

Comments about Buck Silver Creek Utility Knife:

This knife is great! Its multi-purpose and light. I'm used to folding knives, but this one provides much more heavy duty work. I really enjoy using this knife! The grip is very comfortable. [...]The sheath is pure plastic which scratchs when you sheath it. Also, the belt clip is absolutely useless. It won't clip to anything.
