Comments about NRS Boater's Fingerless Gloves - Women's:

I've used these gloves about 4-5 times per week for the past 2 months straight. While they have saved my hands from countless blisters, the material that the palm is made from (it is like a synthetic leather) is pilling pretty badly. I even rinse them out with fresh water after every paddle. The glove is staying together fine regardless of my constant use and abuse. I really like the fleece like material at the back of your thumb and is great for wiping your nose even when the glove is soaked.

Comments about NRS Boater's Fingerless Gloves - Women's:

I bought these gloves in preparation for the annual Paddle Georgia event where I'd be kayaking 82 miles in 7 days. I am happy to report that all 82 miles were blister free thanks to these gloves! I've developed blisters on far shorter trips so I'm certain that these gloves saved my hands. These gloves are comfortable, thin and unobtrusive. They are also the shortest gloves I was able to find, closing just at the base of the palm rather than higher on the wrist. I often forgot that I was wearing gloves! The backs of these gloves are spandex, which makes them thin and fitted but also makes them a little more difficult to remove, especially when wet. But even wet, they prevented blisters and allowed my hands to be cooled when dipped into the water. The back of the thumb is terry cloth, presumably to wipe sweat. According to the sizing chart I should wear a medium, but I found the large to be more comfortable; if possible I'd try them on in a store before buying.

The reason they lost a star is that the synthetic leather/ultrasuede palms are a light color that stains easily and pills after very little use. There are also a few places where the spandex fabric is slightly frayed at the fingertips; only time will tell if that fraying will continue and ruin the gloves. (I've owned these gloves for 2 weeks and about 82 miles.)

While I had no problem with the location of seams between my thumb and first finger, some may. The seam was very close to the critical area where these types of gloves are supposed to prevent blisters but could easily cause them if the seam rubs your hand. (I'll never understand why so many makers of paddling gloves continue to place a seam in that location!) Depending on your hand shape, hand size, paddling style or even your paddle style (bent or straight shaft, small or standard diameter), it seems there is a potential for the seams rubbing your hand. But again, this did not happen to me and I am simply speculating based on the location of the seam in proximity to my "blister point".

All in all, I really like the gloves and was very thankful to have them over the 82 miles. They prevented blisters, made pushing off of rocks easier and were unobtrusive enough that I could eat or operate my camera with them on. After applying sports tape to the raw hands of several fellow paddlers over our 7 day trip, I am happy that I shelled out the money for these gloves!
