Comments about Light My Fire MealKit:
While there are lighter options on the market, this kit is really useful for all types of camping and backpacking. It is durable and easy to clean.

Comments about Light My Fire MealKit:
If you are looking for a compact, no frills set, this should work fine for you. That's what I was expecting and that's what I got. I think the triangle design is pointless. How bout something square or round for the plate (lid) and bowl. But not a huge deal. As another reviewer said, the mug is next to useless. Even if you can get the lid on tight enough to ensure no spills, you have to suck the liquid out like it's a baby bottle because there is no other air hole in the lid. Again, the set works fine but could be improved with a few changes.

I love this product! I got an extra spork for my girlfriend. We share the plates. I keep a knife on me so was not too sure about the knife edge on the spork but I admit it came in handy too. I know a lot of people complain that it's not durable but I want to know what you're doing with it! Held up fine for me. It's very lite and I was surprised at how strong it is.
I also know a lot of people wanted all the compartments to be waterproof. This would be nice but it wasn't a deal-breaker for me. It packs into itself so not sure why you would keep food in it. I keep my food in ziplock bags that I recycle after my trip.

I saw my friend use this and I bought one the next week. I have had it for over 2 years and it still has not broke! It is compact and light, something I needed for backpacking. My lid snaps on just fine. Love the colors, too. Overall, another great product by LMF.

This product is fantasic I saw a friend using it and I got the next week. The thing has lasted me over 2 years! I don't know why people say the lid doesn't snap on, because mine sure does. Another fantastic product by Light My Fire.

Comments about Light My Fire MealKit:
This set was nice that it was light weight and compact. The plates are kind of unstable due to the shape and the plate size was pretty small even for hydrated food.

Plastic mess kit. Looks cool. The big bowl is a nice size and easy to clean. All the other dishes are useless. They dont seal very well or are too small to be used as a dish. The spoon/fork is cool though. I dumped the smaller containers. Use the largest for my meals and filled the empty space with snacks and coco packets. Overall, I think there are better options

Comments about Light My Fire MealKit:
I LOVE this meal kit! I have owned this product (in green - my favorite color) for 4 years. Not only is it perfect for camping, it's also great for travel, I have taken this on my travels to California and Italy! It's like being able to take your own picnic set with you! I pack a small travel size bottle of dish soap, small swiss army knife and a 2nd spork and it has been good for both my husband and I to use.
* The cup is good for hot chocolate and tea (mine does not leak).
* The small container is good for holding tea bags, nuts, candy, vitamins etc.
* The cutting board has been used for slicing cheese.
* bowl/plate has been used for holding sandwiches to stew.
* Thrifty travelers: I have used this set to make instant cereal in hotel rooms to save from having to order room service or eat an unhealthy "continental breakfast".
* I also have several LMF sporks which I use everyday for my work lunches.

Comments about Light My Fire MealKit:
Pros:
-Deep plates, esp. the bottom one.
-Cutting board is a handy bonus.
-Mug is a great size for cereal.
Cons:
-Have yet to find a use for the small container other than holding a few folded up ziplocks.
-Mug is not very functional as a mug. Again, I think it's a great size cereal bowl. I purchased a collapsable mug that appeared at first glance to maybe fit inside this nicely. No such luck. I think a slightly smaller mug that was actually a bowl that would allow a collapsable mug to fit inside would make this kit a complete hit.
-Only one utensil. All portions of it are functional, but would prefer not having to hold meat to cut it. I purchased a second one and am satisfied with them this way.
-If knocked off a table while assembled as a set it would send pieces in numerous directions. The harness will rectify this, but a small product modification probably would too.
The size is right for me, but I'm not sure backpackers would be pleased with ths size since it is a bit bulky.
I'm going to answer "yes, I'd recommend to a friend", but think my answer really is more "maybe". I think depending on what someone is using it for that it might be a nice little kit, but for others definitely not. Hopefully by the time I want to replace my kit some modifications will be made to allow my rating to go from good to great.
