Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
We use our two kayaks on the James River here in Richmond. We can easily load them on top of any of our cars. We have used them mostly for flat-water. We think they are easy to paddle, very comfortable and affordable.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
Very pleased so far. I think it's the best out there for the money. I typically use it on flat water but recently I started running it down mild rivers. I don't think this is what it was built for but its been doing pretty well. My only complaint is the seat. It could be a little more comfortable/adjustable but again for the money it's tough to complain.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
We rented this from REI. The rental service is superb!
The kayak was OK, but it felt like paddling a barge. I constantly kept fighting it. My other kayak is a WS Pamlico 120 which glides effortlessly by comparison.
I think this is a good value for a starter kayak, just don't expect to cover any long distances with it.
I also had a small kid in it along for the ride. It is a good kayak to take a kid along. Stable, roomy cockpit, it felt safe overall.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
Had this kayak for about 20 minutes.I purchased it from [...] and when I loaded it to the top of my car I noticed that the rear carrying handle had popped out on one side. The screw that went into the molded plastic was either broken or had just pulled loose. Either way it is a terrible design flaw. I'm not sure why any kayak designer would use anything but a handle molded into the plastic or a hole in the body for an attached rope handle.I'm glad the problem occured before I was able to leave with the kayak. [...] I'm not the first person to tie down their kayak using the handles) the handle should be designed to withstand a bit more stress than that. And truthfully I think the handle was already broken before I purchased the kayak.Just a word of caution to anyone that might need to use the handle for more than carrying.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
This is my firt kayak and I love it!! I had purchased a pelican apex 80 without knowing anything about kayaks. I brought it home, tossed it in the pool and climbed on only to fall right off. So long story short, the pelican was returned and after reading all of the great reviews on the vapor, I got it and absolutely love it. It is very stable, the seat isn't wonderful but it also isn't terrible. I love the huge open area for your legs to get a tan and not feel suffocated :) Easy to use overall, my chihuahua rides in the back storage area on a towel, he is also a fan. Highly recommended kayak from a beginners point of view!!

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
This is my first kayak, after renting several. I've used it almost weekly on either the Chattahoochie River or at Stone Mtn Lake. It tracks very straight, is very stable - I don't think I could flip it if I tried. The large cockpit is easy for larger builds to enter and exit. I've paddled it upriver several times on the Chattahoochie, can power through most rapids pretty easily. I love this boat; everything is great with it. And it's small enought I can carry in the back of my Mazda pickup with just the tailgate down.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
The Vapor 10 has basic features and is aimed at people who are interested in a short ride with minimum hassle. It is heavy for its length as a result of its solid structure and use of single layer PE. The width makes 230 cm paddles a necessity and a narrower boat would be more easily paddled. I jumped into it the first time and never felt any sense of instability. It tracks very well with its V-hull (like a canoe) and doesn't need a rudder. And it can be turned quickly. It has a very shallow draft and I've never touched bottom as long as there is water that can be seen. The huge cockpit means there is little protection from water off the paddles, so you either get wet or paddle carefully. It's a good entry to the field. If you need anything lighter, faster or longer, then don't buy a plastic kayak. If not, then this is as good as it gets at this size.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
its great for a beginner, this Kayak got me started and so far ive had lots of fun paddling.
its very easy to pick the Vapor 10 up and to carry, I just throw it in the back of my pickup and im off to the lake, the Polyethylene material looks like it will last for a long long time so I dont worry about scrathing this one up.
id suggest getting a spray skirt with this toy, Im really glad the rei sales associate suggested I get one, it's come in handy.
If your a beginner and would like to start out kayaking this 10 foot boat is perfect to start paddling.

Comments about Old Town Vapor 10 Kayak:
Well never having kayaked before I did a little bit of research online before making my purchase. I feel that the right choice was made. For the price this is a great bang for your buck! It is nice and roomy in the cockpit, which for me was something I wanted in my first kayak.
My biggest concern being new to kayaking was stability, that is not an issue with the Vapor. My friend purchased a used liquid logic kayak and was fooling around and went to "ram" me with his. Only one of us wound up rolling our kayak, and it wasn't me.
Although the plastic it's made from does seem a little thin near the cockpit edges, for the price you really can't complain. Comfort would be my only gripe, the seat is the basic version, so as another reviewer said, the purchase of an inflatable camp seat has nullified that gripe. I know very little about kayaking so far, but I do know I am very satisfied with my choice. For this price I can focus on fun instead of worrying that I might be destroying my thousand+ dollar toy.
