Comments about GSI Outdoors Ultralight Backpack Kitchen:

I'm an avid backpacker, and I absolutely LOVE to cook good foods on the trail. I'm talking pizza, cheesecake, apple pies, brownies, chicken pot pies, you name it, I make it (in my awesome Bemco backpacker oven).

My boyfriend got me this little kit as a gift, and supplemented it with a mini cheese grater and some tiny containers for spices. I use it on every trip I go on now, and sometimes swap out some of the stuff depending on my menu for the trip.

The little spice containers are great and hold quite a bit of spices, and the whisk has so far held up quite nicely for scrambled eggs and omlettes, and mixing up brownies and pie dough. The mesh bag it comes in is nice to keep everything from getting lost, too (though I guess you could throw everything in your pot or cookset, too).

The only con is the sponge isn't too durable, but it's held up for about 4 or 5 trip so far, and when it becomes unusable I'll just cut up a regular kitchen sponge.

Overall, if you love to cook in the backcountry like I do, this is a great set, especially when supplemented with other utensils and containers to fit your needs, but if you're someone who eats pretty simple foods on the trail, you'd probably want to skip this to save weight.
