Comments about GSI Outdoors Gourmet Backpack Kitchen Kit:
I bought this with the intent of having a compact package of utensils and cleaning materials for car camping or backpacking. But other than the salt and pepper shaker (and maybe the whisk for light use) the other items are of poor quality. The spatula melted at the edge on first use. The measure cup is too specific a tool and not of much use, while the cleaning cloth and sponge are almost just for one-time use.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Gourmet Backpack Kitchen Kit:
Tried to turn over some eggs being fried on a non stick pan and the spatula just melted. Compact and lightweight but does not handle heat effectively.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Gourmet Backpack Kitchen Kit:
First I don't know if the previous reviewers are some sort of "paid to write bad reviews of competing brands" type. I have used the set at least 30 times on backpacking trips, the spatula has seen heavy use over a hot frying pan, turning pancakes, dinner etc. It has not melted at all and I use a multi fuel stove, optimus nova that is. The only way I can envision the spatula melting is if you leave it unattended for longer than 10 seconds over a super hot pan. As always a great product from GSI perfect for minimalists !

First use, the plastic melted into my food. The pan was not overly hot.

Comments about GSI Outdoors Gourmet Backpack Kitchen Kit:
Got this little kit to make things easier and more compact on the trails. We got the GSI Pinnacle Backpacker Cookset a few months ago and love it. I thought the GSI utensil set would be just as durable. I tried to flip a pancake with the spatula, it instantly melted to my expensive GSI pan. The whisk pulled apart while trying to clean it, and the included sponge tore apart before I was done cleaning the first pan. GSI makes great gear, the pots and pans set we have is great. This was money I wish I would have put to use somewhere else. I do like the spoon/measuring cup, It is very useful. Ill be looking for wooden utensils to replace this setup. It's understandable that a camp stove puts out more heat than a regular home stove. This product should have been manufactured accordingly.
