I actually LIKE these new bottles. I used the old bottles many times and one issue I had was that if you didn't shut it really tight, they could leak gas all over your gear. The trick to these new caps is to NOT crank them down to tight as the child lock mech takes care of leaking issues. If you can get into the can the white gas (or whatever) comes in, you should be able to get into these without a problem, just don't use gorilla strength when you close it.
This 11oz bottle is perfect for extended weekends in the back country as long as I don't have to use the stove to melt snow for water, in which case it works for short overnight trips.

This bottle works just like the old ones. I've used the old style bottles and now have used the new style. I don't see any problem with the new ones at all. To open the bottle it's just like any child proof lock, all you do is push down and twist the cap. It not a backbreaking process to open it

I wrote a review for the 30oz version as well. Basically, this cap (when the bottle is filled) is extremely difficult to unscrew. I believe it is not just child-proof, it is person-proof. No one wants to end a long day of hiking by wrestling with the fuel bottle so they can start dinner. Ugh.
I'm so glad I have an older bottle. Hopefully they fix this cap before I need a new one!

I wanted this to go with my Primus OmniFuel for short term hikes. However, the diameter of this bottle is smaller than the diameter of Primus bottles.
Consequently, you cannot install the Primus Ergopump into the bottle without cross threading.

What happens, is that the brass snorkel tube interferes with the insertion of the pump.

I liked the cap assembly of the new MSR bottles, and had no trouble opening/closing. But I only did this with a dry bottle.

Since this bottle won't work with my stove, it's back to REI for this item.

Primus does manufacture a .35L bottle, perhaps REI could carry it.
