        Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

This rope didn't even last a year. While lowering down a chimney at Index to retrieve a stuck cam, I wore the knot down to the core. There went 4 feet off the end in the first week. These new ropes that are under 10mm seem to be sacrificing durable sheaths to lightness. I climbed with this rope at Jtree, Leavenworth, Smith, Vantage and The City. It was a good rope while it lasted, handled nicely, soft catches, etc. It simply was fragile. Had ugly wear spots after the first 20 days of climbing. At City of Rocks last week, it developed a large wear bump...the kind of spot where you start to worry about core damage. But it had not got stuck in a crack, or suffered rock fall. I am very careful with my ropes...always use rope bags. I'm going back to thick ropes. There are some 10.7's out there that specifically mention thick, durable sheaths. I climb all year around, and have 9 weeks of vacation...I don't care about weight, I need durability. I won't buy another rope this thin.

          Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

I've used the rope for about 10 days of climbing and so far it has been great. No issues with pigtailing or kinking and it handled great the first day I used it. This is my first bi-pattern rope and it is definitely worth the extra money; when you have a few raps ahead of you and you are super tired, it is worth it.

            Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

If you are going to get a rope, I always recommend 70 m bi-pattern. It may cost a little more, but it will pay off when:
-you are rappelling and need to find the midpoint
-you need that extra 10 m to reach the next rappel
-when you are climbing rope stretching routes
            -Top-roping longer routes

This rope runs smooth and I am very pleased with it.

              Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

We usually try to support our local climbing shop but I thought maybe getting a rope from REI was a good idea. Stellar idea, as it turns out. We don't usually use this rope as we seldom need a 70m so I'd say we used this rope less than 20 times and it looked worse than our Edelrid (also purchased from REI and 2+ years old) and I was getting afraid to climb on it already. Returned the rope no questions asked. We are trying a Mammut this time, hopefully with better durability. I see the New England is a different color now, maybe it will be better.

              Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

Used extensively fort two and half seasons. It holds up great- it still looks relatively new after a few trims off the ends. Bi-pattern is amazing. It's very stiff and kinks constantly despite being full hung out on routes. With almost suspicious ease, it jams up your belay device when you most need to feed out rope. It works great for long trad routes, but terrible for cragging.

              Comments about New England Glider Bi-Pattern 9.9mm x 70m Dry-Core Rope:

overall it is a very good rope. Glides well through pro as well as through rock crevices etc. Feels good in the hand when climbing or rappelling, and it is very easy to clip into pro. Is holding up well through numerous climbs at the local crags as well as lengthy multi pitch climbs. My only problem with the rope is that is continues to pigtail even after numerous climbs and rappels. It pigtails to the point that it can be a real hassle requiring an additional expenditure of time and effort to complete a climb. I would buy another one only if it was a great price.

I like this rope a lot. It feels great. I've climbed on it for a few months both inside and out and it has held up very nicely. I haven't had any issue like some other people have mentioned. It feeds very smooth and rarely pig tails. I get tons of compliments on it at the gym.
