Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Air Sleeping Pad - Regular - Special Buy:

We are a family of 7 that backpack, and car camp. Bought 5 thinking this was a good buy. Have used them twice. Three of the mats do not stay inflated overnight. Tried checking for leaks but none obvious... I have had other mats that have lasted for years that do not deflate for a week (car camping). Trying to save some dollars isn't always a good idea. I will be returning all of these mats for a refund. Think twice before buying these mats.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Air Sleeping Pad - Regular - Special Buy:

For the money, this is a good pad. It is a bit bulky and heavier than I prefer for backpacking. Because it didn't fold down really small like the Therma-rests or Big Agnes aircore pads, I had to roll it and attach to bottom of my pack. Eventually, being exposed like that, a jagged rock in the Grand Canyon ended this pad as my pad when I go backpacking.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Air Sleeping Pad - Regular - Special Buy:

I bought this for my Scout son to use on a backpacking trip to Philmont. He used it hard and well for 2 weeks out, used it all this past year on Scout trips and just returned from Northern Tier having used it for 2 weeks out in the wet Canadian wilderness! It held up well. Early into the Canadian trip, something happened to put a sizable hole in the pad. So being in the middle of no where, he had no choice but to keep on using it. It still provided good insulation from the ground and kept him dry all night. I'm going to look into purchasing a repair kit to fix the hole. We think the hole was caused by an adult who carelessly packed his gear into the van and not because of the pad itself being inferior. He did try the included patch kit, but the glue was dried out (even though it had never been opened!) So note to others, once you've owned the pad for a while, make sure to check the repair kit (esp the glue tube!) before you head out on a long trip. Over all it is a great pad and it comes with an unexpected low price.

Got this for [$] after using my REI dividend and an additional discount. Getting old, so wanted to try an air pad without spending alot. This was great! Very comfy without adding alot of weight. A little bulky, but alot less bulky than my Thermarest foam pad.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Air Sleeping Pad - Regular - Special Buy:

This is a nice light-weight pad for about 40-50 bucks. It keeps you off the cold ground and gives you cushion from those annoying as hell little rocks. It inflates quickly and you can give it an extra couple of puffs although I wouldn't over-do it. I used it in 30 degree weather the last two nights and it worked out well...except...make sure your tent is on level ground. Otherwise you will have a night of slip sliding misery. At 2lbs 5oz it is an acceptable weight.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Lightweight Air Sleeping Pad - Regular - Special Buy:

This is a great buy. I tested a number of inflatable sleeping pads to replace my foam pad but when it came time to buy one this one was on sale and worth a shot. Because of the low price, I was admittedly a little hesitant about how much of a beating it could take but its held its own.

My only issue, which I think I simply may have pushed it too far, is that it began to balloon. I let it self-inflate, and then puff a good minutes worth of air in it. On one trip, and after about a year's worth of trips, I may have tried to squeeze too much in there. I still use it, I simply know its limits now.

            Some more positives:
I really enjoy the size it packs into. Especially when I travel, I can keep this on hand and serves as a great pillow or seat.

It seems to give more insulation.

For the money this can't be beat. Very long too. So it should fit the tallest adventurer. Easy to inflate although it does take more than 10 minutes for it to inflate completely. Other than the fact that it does take some effort to deflate and roll up, it's a great buy.

A great pad at a great price compared to others. However, it is slippery. If you camp on any sort of grade you're bag will likely slide off and you'll be waking up to pull the kids bag uphill and worming your way back up as well. Wish the top surface was less slick.
