Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

I got the Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack to replace the stuff sack I lost from my down jacket. I needed to store my jacket in a climbing and backcountry ski pack. The main purpose is to prevent the jacket from ripping when stored next to a shovel/probe or climbing gear. So far I have been very happy with the Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack. I am not worried about my coat tearing while in the pack because of the durability of this product. I also have more room in the pack for extra food and gear than before since I was able to select the appropriate sizing. Yes this is not a dry bag and the Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack will let in water, but that is not the intent. If I wanted a dry bag I would have purchased a different sea to summit model sack.

Fits a Big Agnes air mattress perfectly

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

Air mattresses never seem to roll down as small as the provided stuff sacks. My Therma-Rest Neoair did not come with a stuff sack, and the factory Therma-Rest stuff sack for the Neoair is way too tight a fit. I wound up putting my Neoair in my wife's Big Agnes stuff sack and bought the 4 liter STS stuff sack for her Big Agnes. No struggling to jam either into a sack that is 0.5 liters too small (the companies really need to make a 3.5 liter sack, which would fit all of these small air mattresses better). A bonus is that the STS is ultralight and since it's a ripstop material, should hold up fine for its intended use. An Oregon Research stuff sack would work well too, but the 4 liter version is a bit narrower and weighs a few grams more. All in all, an excellent choice for going ultra-light.

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

I have two of these bags, and love them both. They are extremely lightweight, very strong, well stitched, water-resistant, and are all around well made. No, they are not water-proof, but they are not supposed to be. I stored around twelve pounds of food in one of these bags and it held up great.

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

I've used two of these sacks for the past few years, and they work perfectly. They are very lightweight, and perfect for backpacking. I use one for my sleeping bag and one for food. They are water resistant, not waterproof. I have a down sleeping bag, and if the bag gets splashed, or my backpack is wet, it will keep the sleeping bag dry. It will not however, keep its contents dry if submerged. Overall, this is a great choice for lightweight backpacking.

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

I have several of these stuff sacks in various sizes. They have become my favorite for stowing gear in the pack and keeping things sorted out. They are mostly waterproof, (as noted by the other reviews) and being inside my pack I feel pretty confident it will keep my sleeping bag and other gear dry. You could double bag with these end-over-end to make it truly waterproof with minimal gain in weight. As for questions about durability, I have "overstuffed" some of the smaller bags to the point where they are incredibly tight. The seams have always held and I have not experienced any tears. I handle these bags with average care and common sense, but not as a fragile material. Out of 10 or so bags, only one has ever experienced abrasion holes, for which I blame myself. Overall, the weight and water resistance is what sold me on these bags, the only down side being the expense of these little sacks. On a side note, a down coat stuffed loosely in one of these bags makes a fantastic pillow.

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

It is lightweight. I got the 15 L large bag and was easily able to stuff my 15-degree synthetic bag into it and cinch it up. There is a pull tab at the top and a durable fabric handle on the bottom- I like these features as it will make it easier to open and to liberate from the inside of my backpack.

I agree with the previous reviewer in that I am skeptical about how it will hold up in the backcountry. It seems like if it catches on something inside the pack or snags on something on the ground it will tear easily. The biggest issue is that there is no flap at the opening. When I cinch up the bag some of the contents are still exposed. Even inside my pack I don't trust it to keep anything dry as it is. I will have to either double bag or add something else to protect the opening. Don't know what they were thinking with that design- saving weight is one thing but not at the cost of wet clothes and a wet bag.

Comments about Sea to Summit Ultra-Sil Stuff Sack:

These stuff sacks are great. They come in different sizes, have different colors so you can remember exactly where something is. They also have a siliconized coating which will do a good job of keeping it dry, although water can get in through the opening of these bags because they are not truly waterproof. They are extremely lightweight. They are very thin and I assume puncturing could be a problem with pointy objects, but so far I've had no such problems. I have several to organize my smaller gear such as cooking gear, personal gear and such. They are not compression sacks just to make that clear, but if you are looking for a stuff sack these are the ultimate find.
