    Sorry I have to agree with many of the other reviewers. This pump does not work with presta valves. Either it won't latch on or once it is on you can't get it off. The couple times I was able to get it onto the valve it leaked and could not handle the higher pressures.

    Why can't REI sells items that actually work?? This was a very frustrating purchase.

              Use product for road bike for presta tubes. I am sure if would do well for mountain bikes too. Great handle that's easy to grip and the gage is located in a good spot with the ability to adjust your target pressure. The only downside in a couple months of use is the thumb lock. The thumb lock is a bit tough to lock and unlock, and be careful when unlocking it, as it can sting your fingers.

              Other products that I have used are Zefal and Silca upright pumps, and this one is fine too.

              Its a nice pump, but I recommend being a little careful with the thumb lock.

                    I used it for a combined total of perhaps 5 minutes before something gave out inside. There is no resistance when pumping, like the seal in the cylinder failed completely.

                    The first one leaked badly at the nipple right out of the store on long stem presta. I took the pump back.
                    The second did the same but not quite as bad. I took that one back too.
                    The SouthCenter (Seattle) store only had 2 in stock.
                    So I bought a Topeak joe blow sprint which worked just fine.
