I got this transformer to use in Korea, where I travel every few years. It is a nice design and looks great -- much smaller than my Korean-purchased transformer, which is larger and heavier.

However, it does not fit in most Korean outlets. Most outlets there are recessed, meaning that the prongs would have to be twice as long to fit into the socket. Other reviewers have commented this as well. The only place I found that would fit this transformer was a kitchen in a small hotel in rural Korea -- and it did not fit other outlets in that same hotel room! In apartments and offices, this transformer was worthless.

FYI, in Western-style hotels, they will usually have some US-style outlets available, and I'm sure they would loan you a transformer for free.

Other commentators have discussed this same issue. You could buy an extender to help it fit, but I didn't want to do that.

This thing works for minutes at a time, gets too hot, and pretty much destroyed my rechargeable eneloops. If I could get to an REI store in europe I would return it DO NOT BUY

This is the second unit that failed on me while traveling in Asia. Returned the first product after it failed after a few minutes, and my second one also failed after only a few minutes of operation.

This transformer works, but it unfortunately doesn't fit into many European plugs, since some plugs are recessed about a cm deep to protect the ground plug. This unfortunately limits which plugs it can be used on or requires the usage of an additional adapter to extend the prongs. Not a bad buy, but make sure you have some prong converters available to extend the reach.
