      Don't buy these just because they are inexpensive. Save your money and get something useful. They are stiff and very uncomfortable. They look great, but your feet will not appreciate it.

        These boots felt pretty comfy out of the box. I wear a size 10 and these felt loose on the width and very roomy in the toe box. They fit perfect with wool socks. I like the extra room. They did feel a bit clumsy at first but after a 5 mile easy hike they felt great. Do not purchase these and expect to carry a medium or heavy load. Also do not expect to do much scrambling or rough terrain as the sole support would be lacking. They make great everyday shoes and for just tromping around on mild terrain. They are a great deal for the money and I would buy them again.

          This is the second pair if Nova Lite hiking boots I have purchased through REI. The first lasted 5 years and is still good for yard work. These are great boots for day hiking, urban jaunts and everyday use.

          The shoe has no support in in-sole. Just flat cushion. I had to spend as much on needed in-sole as I did on the boot. Reduced cost of the boot made that possible but lack of inner support makes the boot a bad product.

          I needed a solid boot for my two week Sierra Nevada/Yosemite trip, and had limited funds. Previous reviews led me to purchase these Hi-Tecs, and my experience was a positive one. Even with a heavy pack, these held up well on very rocky up-and-down terrain. The shank protected me well, and coupled with good smartwool socks the Nova Lite II's did everything I could have hoped for considering the price.
          Only part of the trip was true backpacking, so I'm only recommending these for low/medium impact exercise.

              These are light with rubber soles with a minimum of tiny grooves to collect small rocks and sand. I'm replacing a pair of similar plastic sole boots which were death on slick slopes and loaded with sand grooves.

              I'll use these for driving and short excursions from the road for photos where steep slopes are common but distances are short. For serious hiking I use 7-lace full leather high-tops. These are 1 lb 8 oz lighter, so much more comfortable.

              My size 11.5 Nova Lite II's weighed 2 lb 11 oz out of the box.
