Comments about Kamik Snowbug 2 Winter Boots - Toddlers':
This will be one of the rare times that we return a used item. We bought these boots for snow, and they just aren't good for more than a short time in snow because the tops are like wide funnels that collect snow. The velcro strap isn't high enough nor snug enough to sinch up the boot tops, and worse the velcro itself clogs up with snow so after a while the strap releases entirely. One reviewer suggested pulling the snow pants down over the boots, which we tried, but the boots are short enough that it wasn't long before the pants had slid up high enough to let snow in again.
I think these boots would be great for cold, snow-free weather. They are warm, quick to put on, and our son loved wearing them so as best I can tell they were comfortable.
But we want snow boots, and these are not snow-proof.

this was the most perfect purchase for our trip upnorth. My kid never complained of freezing toes and wanted to play in the snow for the longest time I have ever seen!

Comments about Kamik Snowbug 2 Winter Boots - Toddlers':
We had gotten some other brand-name boots as hand me downs for our daughters. Not sure how people ever got kids' feet in those boots. These opened wide and my 17-month old got them right on. The only reason I did not give five stars is it seems they could be a little higher and have a seal around the top. But, really, for the age these are intended for, I expect they'll do just fine.

Comments about Kamik Snowbug 2 Winter Boots - Toddlers':
We bought these boots for our son 3 years in a row. The reason to get these is that they are extremely easy to gt on and off. When he was still small, it was very helpful that they open up wide so I could actually get them on his little fat feet. I originally tried some other boots (got as a gift), and I couldn't even get his feet to the bottom of the boot. These you open up, the foot goes in flat, and you close it up. No need to explain to a 1-year-old that he needs to point his toes and then flex his foot back.
The other years, I loved these boots because he was able to put them on BY HIMSELF. I see 4-year-olds having to sit while their moms do all the work. My son has his boots on and is ready to go before I am!
As for snow going into the boot, if you tuck regular pants in the boot, of course they are going to flap open. But when he goes in the snow, he has snow pants which you pull down OVER the boot, keeping snow from going over the top while also holding them tightly closed. We had snow up to his hip last year with no problems.

Comments about Kamik Snowbug 2 Winter Boots - Toddlers':
I have to STRONGLY disagree with the previous reviewers. These boots have been my daughters everyday, play-in-the snowboots for Northern New Hampshire--where we get lots of snow. And they are the snowboots that many of her friends had at preschool as well.
Why? When they are really not all that atrractive. . .
Because they are a boot that little hands can put on by themselves. It is much easier to teach a small child to tuck her boots--that she put on by herself--into her snowpants, than to fasten most of the other boots that are on the market. There is another type of pull-on boot that is out there that is much cuter, but they go up too high on the child's leg to allow them to tuck them in to snowpants or whatever.
I believe that the people who are willing to have the super-duper lace-up waterproof experience are not folks whose children put their snowboots on for themselves day-in, day-out. Maybe I'm wrong, but many kids at my daughter's school have these Kamiks because of their functionality--they are do-able, and my daughter comes home with dry feet. She and her friends play in snow every single day for six months straight.
For the money, you cannot top these boots. Really. They are reasonable, but not cheap. And I really do not get this idea that the tongue acts as a scoop. What kind of pants or snowpants are these kids wearing?
My only qualm is that I wish they were cuter/came in darker "girl" colors/didn't have a super light gray or black outsole. Fine for boys, kind of icky for girls.

Comments about Kamik Snowbug 2 Winter Boots - Toddlers':
I bought these for my 4-year-old, and seem very warm, as long as we're not in the snow. However, the design is such - wide open at the top - that it funnels snow directly into the boot. It is impossible to cinch them up enough at the top, because of the velcro strap that is placed too low to do so. In the photo, it appears that the boot closes snug on the leg, but in practice, they end up shaped like funnels on the top, full of snow, and I have an unhappy child with cold, wet feet.
I've never returned a used product before, but these are definitely going back.

These look so cute, however... the function wasn't there. The lack of a drawcord at the top of the boot allows for snow to easily get into them. The velcro strap, when tightened, made the top flare out, adding to the ease of snow getting in them. My three year old's feet were wet as a result.

very easy to get on/off. boots are warm, great traction. however, if you're doing any sort of regular snow activity the single band is not enough. the top of boot remains open and acts as a snow scoop. sadly, will be returning!
