Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
I use it when riding when it is cool outside (above 55 degrees) and when it is raining. It is very light and packs small. The only inconvenience is when I'm riding in cool weather, the humidity from my body builds up in the sleeves and it is somewhat like having a tropical rain forest in the sleeves. Overall, I like this jacket and recommend its use.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
My husband is a dog walker and uses this in the "micro" climates. He thinks of this jacket as a "man's umbrella". Something that he can keep in his truck that doesn't take up a lot of space and he can just throw this on when it rains. Perfect to take on hiking trips because it folds nicely, and when your in a jam, totally waterproof. Very comfortable but doesn't breathe AT ALL.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
I bought this jacket when I started early this year. I haven't been out in the real cold to test it's warmth but the times I have been it's been windy and it does block the wind.
Haven't had the opportunity to test the water proofing yet. Give me another month or so.

I didnt expect it to not breathe at all. I works great at keeping you dry from the rain the only problem is that it will make you sweat with the slightest exertion. This works great as a sweat suit top though.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
I mainly used this jacket as a light rain shell and left it in my bag for when the weather takes a turn for the worst, but it really didn't do much. Yes it's compact and lightweight, but it is not by any means waterproof/water resistant or windproof. I wore it for all of less than 10 minutes in the rain (not a very hard rain, mind you) and the material was already soaked through like a cotton t-shirt. It doesn't hold up against the wind either, especially not a combination of the elements. In addition, the sleeves were excessively long compared to the body of the jacket, which I found strange, uncomfortable, and inconvenient. Overall, I was disappointed by this jacket (even for the price) and will continue to try other brands like North Face for my gear.

Service and delivery comments:
Asked for a raincoat at the Local REI and this is what they sold me. As described it IS NOT A RAINCOAT. Store is 2 hours away so I am stuck with it and shopping locally for a raincoat.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
I was hiking when a storm rolled in. It was really just a cold wind with no real rain. I wore it for about and hour until we finally reached camp. when I took it off my shirt was soaking wet. As I was hiking I was sweating and this jacket trapped all of that moisture in. I felt like I just took off a plastic bag. I bought this to help me stay comfortable but it ended up being more of a hinderence than a help. I called Sierra Designs to inquire about their "Lifetime Warranty" and found their customer service to be pathetic. I will be returning this item to REI and this will be the last product that I ever buy from Sierra Designs. The only reason that I scored it a one is because REI's system wouldn't let me give it a zero.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
First off, to those people that expected that this jacket would be wind/rain proof, please.... for [$] you will never even get close to that. Now,I have had this jacket for almost 1 year now and I take it with me trail running in rain storms, high winds and 30+ degree weather. Never had an issue with the jacket. Keeps me warm enough to continue enjoying the outdoors while running. This jacket has been abused and used and still holding strong. It would be hard to find another jacket for this price.

I used this jacket in mid October during a Scout trip in the Georgia section of the AT. With all kinds of weather coming at us, the jacket helped keep the wind off and worked well with fleece. The problem is it doesn't breathe at all. My fleece was soaked and I don't think it was because of the rain.

Comments about Sierra Designs Microlight Jacket - Men's:
For those of us in desert climates, rain gear always seems ridiculously expensive since we don't really use it all that much. On that note, I tried to go cheap. It's a mistake with this one-- no steal of a deal here! It's barely water resistant and you're gonna get soaked from your own sweat anyways. Spend a little more money to keep dry.
The positive thing about this jacket is that it is a surprisingly good windbreaker. I hiked up Humphries during monsoon season and this was the only jacket I brought. Luckily it wasn't raining but winds reached 75 mph above the treeline and this little jacket did amazingly well.
