        Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

Great multi-tool. Easy to use whenever you have that unwanted quick repair on the trials. One of my favorite tools to bring along whenever I'm on a long ride away from camp. Definitely a must have if you are in search of a multi-tool.

          Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

This tool is the perfect size to fit in a seat pack or pocket. The rubber band fits around it and keeps the tools from rattling around. The Multi-17 has all the allen wrench sizes that I have needed to make small adjustments while on the road.

            Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

This tool has everything I have ever needed for tweaking/repairing my Mountain Bike on the trail. I have also found myself skipping my full-size tools in my toolbox and using this tool instead, because it's so convenient and always on hand.

The greatest initial deterrent was the price, but after I thought about it, it has a chain breaker and spoke wrench, 2 tools that would cost $20 if purchased separately, and since this one works just as good as a fullsize tool so far, I'm glad I have it in my pack everywhere I ride.

The only tool I have needed other than this would be a cone wrench, but incorporating that would have made it too large.

Nice set of tools though I wonder if a normal sized hex wrenches would be easier to use sometimes.

                  Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

I never thought i would have to use all the features of this tool. I had simply wanted a good set of allen wrenches and not all the trimmings. I've recently become an avid mountain biker and have put my poor bike (and components) through their paces. I found that having the chain link tool on this saved me long walks home a couple of times after mud, sand, and some hard shifting snapped my chain. I was able to make the repair and get back up and running again in no time. The other tools worked as expected, good selection of different wrenches and tools allow you to make all the adjustments you need while on the road, trail, whatever. It's solidly built and big enough to give you decent leverage for those stubborn fasteners, but it can be hard to maneuver at times. It's worth it to get this one with the chain tool, you'll hope to never have to use it, but you'll be happy to have it when you do.

Great tool overall. It can, however, be difficult to get enough torque with the chain tool. I frequently grab this when working on my bike at home rather then dig through the tool box.

I am a bike commuter and mountain biker and I have used every single tool on this unit. The chain breaker is the best mobile one I have tried, and I love its shape when I stow it in my hydration pack.
I have stopped to help several other cyclists with it, and they have all asked me where I got it and said they will be getting their own.

                        Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

The only problem is that the individual tools tend to move/bend when using them, making some adjustments tricky at times. I like the fact though that you can have a tool out at a 90 degree angle and really get great leverage when you need to really tighten down that bolt.

                        Comments about crankbrothers Multi-17 Tool:

I had to use the chain breaker today on my 8-speed chain and was able to get the broken link out and replaced with a Powerlink, then back on the bike in 3 minutes.

Allen wrenches work in a pinch for adjusting issues while on a ride away from your garage or a bike shop. Like a reviewer said about the Multi-19 is that with it and any other multi-tool is that things might get tight trying to fit into certain places, but the pros overweight the con here.

If you're debating between this and the Multi-19, the only difference is that the 19 comes with an extra set of Phillips and flathead screwdrivers and a chain breaker that compatible up to 10-speed. If you don't need those, then get the 17 and save a few dollars for other components.
