Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
I get frustrated with the gear available for kids. It's just never the same quality as the adult gear, regardless of price. But not this pack. This is a serious piece of equipment. My 8-year old son who is tall and 70 lbs, was able to carry 13pounds for a 5.5 mile hike in. That's far more than he has carried in the past and he did it without any complaining about his pack. Now his feet, yes. Why aren't there good boots for kids? But back to the pack, once we got to camp, my husband was able to adjust the youth pack to fit him and carry our day hike gear from camp. Slick! Adjustments are easy to work. My son is able to put his own pack on and adjust it correctly himself. Lots of loops and tie ons available. This pack seems very durable and I'm expecting it to last a long time for him. At least until he is able to carry my gear up the mountain, and then I can start carrying the 13 pounds on my back in this pack. :)

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
We just wanted to agree with all the other reviews. My 8 year old son loves his back pack and it held up well on a 3 day hike in Wyoming's Cloud Peak National forest. Very adjustable kids' pack. Lot's of compartments that kids like. Easy access front compartments are great for snacks or a camera.

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
Great pack, my six year old is on the lower end of the torso adjustment so this pack isn't just for the over 10 crowd. Very well made and very adjustable so this should last a long time.
What I really like...
The hip belt pockets are large, you can really fit some things that you want your child to have quick access to.
The shovel pack is great for things you want quick access to. I fit a floppy hat, beanie, and fleece jacket in there no problem.
The mesh pockets hold water bottles easily and there is a pocket for a hydration bladder.
Adjustments; it's easy to stablize the load, just use caution as you could easily overload this pack.
The sternum strap has a built in whistle like many of the packs now, I just wish it was more brightly colored rather than gray, might have to swap that out.

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
I bought this for my 10 year old son. He carried it 10+ miles on our first trip without much complaint. A downside is the belt...it's almost unpadded. All in all, a good pack. The inclusion of the rain cover is a nice feature. I'm likely to buy another for the 8 year old son too.

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
I got this for my 7 year old son. I am amazed as to how muct time was put in to designing this pack. It is literally just like mine, only smaller. Every inch of this pack has some dort of detail on it. It really easy to load. Rides comfortably my son says. This pack will grow with him too. It has a rip/stick adjusment system for easily adjusting along the trail. The down side is its size. Even with his North Face Tiger sleeping bag, it won't fit in the sleeping bag compartment too well, but it is open so its no real problem

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
This backpack is not only for 10-14 year olds. My son is a slightly smaller than average 7.5 year old and it fits him perfectly. This is too small of a pack for a 14 year old, really. A kid can get his own compressed sleeping bag in this pack, with plenty of clothes too, and other personal accessories/toys/etc. Obviously, there is not room for any tent or other stuff the adult would likely carrry. Rain cover is nice. My pack doesn't even have that. Plus it looks cool, good design, more modern and streamlined that the comparable REI packs, which are cool too. Not so much padding on this pack's hip belt thought. My son likes it, thinks it is comfortable, that is a plus.

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
I purchased this for my eight year old son. So far he has used it on a 4 day backpack in Yosemite.
I am thrilled with this pack. It is light, comfortable, and carries an appropriate volume for someone his size. One day we did a side hike, leaving our big packs in camp. I wanted to give my boys a break from their packs, so I emptied the Osprey Jib, loaded it with day hiking essentials, and adjusted it to fit me (I'm 6'1"). It made a perfectly adequate day pack for me, and adjusts in about 5 seconds.
I think back to the homemade, wood framed backpack I carried on my first backpack trip, about forty years ago (not to mention the green and white striped "Ecology" pack I bought for $10.00 at the local head shop), and I am jealous that youngsters today have it so cushy.
My only problem now is deciding whether to get the Osprey Ace for the older brother.

I bought this pack for my 7-year old grandson for a 6 day backpacking trip. The pack held up superbly to the rigors of a youngster. He loves the pack and wants to go camping again so he can use the pack. The feature I liked best was its large volume for a small pack. I would definitely buy one again.

Comments about Osprey Jib 35 Pack - Youth:
I have the Osprey atmos 65 and love it. This is what made me look to the same maker for my daughter. She is 7 and it holdes her sleeping bag, sleeping pad, 1 liter camel back and a few extras with no problem. It has small pockets for rocks and treasures found along the trail at the, the rear pocket holds her windbreaker and it comes with its own rain cover in a stash pocket neer the bottem. "mine didnt even come with this"! Its a great pack and made to last many years! Well worth the money.
