      This is an odd set-up for camping. The fry pan, with its thick aluminum base, is at least as heavy as a home-kitchen pan. You would expect it to serve double-duty as a lid, but it is larger than either "bowl"; it'll fit over them only loosely, and then it makes the set-up top heavy. Too, as a lid (upside-down from its pan position) it cannot be easily held with the "gripper" handle.

      The quality of the steel is good, and it's well made, but I don't think it's camping gear.

        I was looking for a set of camp cooking pans that were durable, compact, reasonably priced, and free of aluminum, plastic, and teflon...and that's what I found. I have used these a few times and am very happy. Yes, the frying pan is a little heavier than the rest, but a lot lighter than the cast iron pan I used to lug along on trips. I love being able to go camping and not have to find a way to cram standard cooking pots with cumbersome handles into the trunk. I don't know about serious backpacking, but for car, RV and tent camping, they're great.

        Service and delivery comments:

        This arrived quickly at my local REI, but dunk sack which they come in was flawed with a hole. The Manager at the store happily echanged it for a similar store item so I did not have to return the entire set just to get a dunk sack without a tiny hole due to a sewing flaw.

        The weight of the pan is a killer in this set. Its thick base makes it way too heavy for backpacking.

        If you are only car camping then this is good set at a discounted price. The quality is there as the pots are stable, polished for easier cleaning, and have gradations stamped into their sides for measuring. The pan is also of good quality, thick and heavy for even cooking (important in kitchen, not so much when using as a cover to boil water in the woods). Though functional, the finish of the aluminum handle is a little rough.

        I bought this set to go in a car-camping ready to go box, and it is fine for that purpose. If I needed to, I could take the smaller pot on a hike without the rest of the kit.
