Comments about Topeak OneUp Bike Holder:
We have a few too many bikes and needed a way to store them while still having access to them when needed. The OneUp bike holder is a great way to get started as you can hang bikes on the wall, and if you put these at staggered heights, you can fit 3 bikes in a small amount of wall space.
I installed three of these in my garage on the center of the back wall between the two cars, and now hang three of the bikes I use less frequently. I also figured out that if you have additional bikes (as I do), you can easily put two more on the floor between the lower tires of the hanging bikes using those floor wheel roller bike stands for a total of 5 bikes in a pretty small space and all accessible.
With regard to the OneUp, the hardware is of high quality, but you absolutely have to find the stud in the wall or the hanger will pull through the drywall from the weight
and pressure of putting the bikes on and off the wall. Fortunately, the common
distance between studs is 16 inches, which is also just right for hanging multiple
OneUps IF you stagger the heights so the handlebars don't overlap.
I will admit that I don't use the two side hooks so much and didn't even install one
since it interfered with some shelving. This may be that because I have three bikes, it is tough to reach thru the bucks to reach the hooks. And the OneUp also works well for mountain or road bikes without any adjustments.
I looked at lots of ways to store my bikes and this is a big part of the solution. It
isn't cheap but doesn't take up much room and doesn't require much damage to the wall. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars are that the hooks would be better if you could put them on either side and the lower plastic panel for the rear tire only works for each specific type of bike, so your wall is likely to get scuffed.
Still a great product when you have more bikes than space.
