Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

I bought this glove to provide a layer of warmth and wind protection for walking in cooler weather. It's been great for my late spring walks as we've had an extended cold snap. I just require a light layer here, so this glove is all I need--unless we get a really cold day. Frankly, it's been one of the really satisfying purchases I've made lately.

Works great for skinning up the mountains in 20 to 35 degrees. Pushing 40+ degrees I usually don't wear gloves.

        Somewhat good glove for back-country

Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

I bought these for back-country skiing in Northern Utah for use at 7,500' to 11,000'. I wear them nearly all the time while climbing uphill on skins and skiing down, though frequently I wear over mitts over the gloves when skiing. This is my 2nd pair of these gloves. With my first pair I liked the light weight but good wind protection. I had good dexterity with the gloves including operating a 35 mm DSLR camera, head mounted POV video camera, and my iPod touch screen.

But, after about 2 years the first pair wore out very significantly. About 4-5 of the finger tips had holes worn completely through, even though the rest of the glove seemed to show little wear. So, I bought a new pair this winter. But, after only about 15 ski days now 2 of the finger tips are worn through (wear and tear of the rest of the glove is negligible).

So, I plan to wear them the rest of this winter until the finger tips totally wear out again and then buy a new pair of some other glove -- not this one.

I chose the 3 star rating "Average, Ordinary" as an average of "Not Good" (1 start) for the lack of finger tip durability plus "That's Good Stuff" (4 star) for all other features and qualities.

Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

Perhaps I expected too much. As it is this glove did not keep my fingers warm on my bike commute in 40 degree weather. Wind was not the issue and they kept hands quite dry. There is no insulation and my hands didin't generate enough heat to keep me comfortable on my ride.

Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

I got these gloves at an REI garage sale with a small hole in one of the fingers. With a little handiwork they were good as new. The material feels a little bit flimsy, but they are great for biking since the windchill is brutal on the digits.

I need to declare that I am a member of the Gore Mountaintechs product testing program, which means I sometimes have the privilege of testing Gore-Tex and Windstopper gear. These gloves passed my test from a technical perspective, but I wasn't a huge fan of their slight bagginess.

These gloves have been excellent for my morning and evening commutes by bicycle in 30-50 degree weather. The fact that they're windproof makes them warm, but they're also very lightweight, so my hands don't get very sweaty during my 35-minute ride.

Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

I have had a pair of these for six years and they are still going strong. I use them as a wind proof liner in fleece gloves. I use them for hiking, shoveling snow, snow shoeing, walking the dog; pretty much everything outdoors in the winter. My hands stay plenty warm and breath to wick away moisture. I rarely use them by them self but when I do, its usually above 30 and are great. Bulky gloves are a thing of the past.

I use these gloves over my normal biking gloves and they do a great job of keeping the wind out and my hands stay toasty. I haven't tried them in winter, but plan on using them over my thin gloves for snowboarding to see how it works. So far, I really like these gloves for a variety of applications.

Comments about Manzella Silkweight WindStopper Gloves - Men's:

These are the best gloves I have ever owned. They fit perfectly and allow for almost complete function of the hands. They have seen fairly hard use through two Wisconsin winters and are worn, but still very useable. It is time for a new pair, but am completely satisfied with how they have held up. My hands don't get cold easily, so these gloves have been ideal for almost all winter activities. The fact that I am buying these gloves a 2nd time without thinking twice about it, speaks for my satisfaction. I'm cutting the fingertips off of my old pair to make them into a perfect cold weather fly fishing glove.
