The REI Member Dividend
The REI dividend is a unique benefit of membership in the REI co-op. It's comprised of your member refund—typically 10% back on eligible purchases—and/or your REI Visa® card rebates.
Each March, active REI members and REI Visa cardholders who earned a rebate receive a refund in the form of an annual dividend notice.
Only active members receive annual dividend notices. To maintain your active status as an REI member, you need to make net merchandise or shipping purchases of at least $10 per year, unless you joined that year. The REI Campware Mess Kit has been an essential integration to my backpacking and leisure activities. Whether it's a trip up Whitney or kicking it on the beach with friends, I've found having this little set increases my options. I've made hot drinks, pasta, and eggs in this set. It's great for high-calorie personal or two-person use. The only thing I changed was that I added a silicone bowl and cup to replace the hard plastic ones that came with the set. The silicone ones can stay insulated and won't burn the hands as well as are easier to clean and pack away. Sometimes I could use a bigger pan/pot too.

I purchased this particular mess kit for a couple of reasons. While I am not the biggest fan of tefalon it is very easy to clean and in the backcountry anything that makes life easier and clean up faster is great in my book. Also, I liked the two pot system and as a kind of bonus the set came with a bowl and cup. Typically I use my Fozzils Solo Pack-Kids set (hey, it may be kids but it has a plate, bowl, cup, and spoon (though I use a spork instead) verses the adult solo pack with less) but it was nice to have a bowl and cup as well because I can't even begin to name all the times friends either haven't had a bowl to use or they managed to forget theirs. Also, this set packs very well. I saw some reviews saying that the set doesn't pack well and that the top pot slides a lot, causing the edges to scratch. I have not had a problem with that. REI packaged this set with a handy mesh bag to store the kit in and if you use the mesh bag there is no problem. The only con I really see with this set is that it is unstable on my Pocket Rocket but that of course is my choice. I'll maybe eventually get one that sits better on the Pocket Rocket but in the mean time this is a great kit!

I bought this mess kit on sale and figured I'd give it a go even though it was not exactly what I was looking for I figured I would try to make it work. That in mind I cannot be too harsh towards this product. I think if you plan on just doing car camping then this is a great product. However, for backpacking purposes, which is what I want a mess kit for, this is not the best. It sits very unstable on my MSR Pocket Rocket stove and I don't often make pancakes in the backcountry. This set is not a good, stable one to just boil water on. That being said, for what it is it is a good little stove. I would return it and will return it if I can find the receipt but for the backcountry this isn't any good. I plan to try out the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Soloist Cookset.

pretty much everything about this kit has been said in other reviews. Its a great cheap lightweight little kit that covers all the basics. Its a little bulky compared to some other offereing. The one thing I wanted to add is that this kit seems almost made for a stove like the whisperlite which has a much wider area to place a pot on rather than a compact butane stove with a much smaller area to balance the pot on. I have the whisperlite and it works great to support the wider pots of this kit. I noticed some people commented that it was unstable.

I have used this cooking set on 4 backpacking trips from 2-6 people. Since I really only boil water, I plan on getting a lighter taller titanium pot but this set is very durable and packs well. If you plan on doing some cooking this is a good set.

I've had this set for a couple years, and its worked great that whole time. Over time, its gotten a bit burnt, but thats to be expected. The one bad thing is that its not very stable. I go backpacking with a group of other teenagers, so there's always people jostling around the table. A couple of times, while boiling water, the pot spilled out. I have a small backpacking stove, so with a bigger stove it wouldn't be too much of a problem, but for me it is. But overall a nice set for a more recreational backpacker or camper.

For the price, you cant beat this cooking set. Sure its not super light but the quality is very good and the price is fantastic.
I have used and abused my set for over 6 years now. Its held up great, and still cooks very fast and non stick. The cup unfortunately is long gone...lost it somewhere. The bowl is still in great shape. For backpacking, i bring just the shallow pan and the bowl in the handy netting bag. along with a jet boil or titanium pot to boil water, it is all i need.
I have thought about getting some lighter titanium fancy cooking sets but i cant justify it when i have this set.

For the price..this is a great kit. Took it camping in Yosemite, and used our Jetboil as the heating element, and the two worked great together. Heated up very quickly, and a breeze to clean. Used the pans several times during the trip, and made everything from hamburgers to breakfast burritos without any issues.
