As a couple of other reviewers have noted: THE BLACK DYE IS NOT COLORFAST! Wash this eyeshade and rinse it well before use. I stained the sheets and pillowcases in a number of hotels before I figured out what was going on. This is a major issue, but easily fixed. So simple, in fact, that REI could eliminate it in the manufacturing stage. Why not, REI? Other than that, this is a fine eyeshade. It's comfortable and effectively blocks most light. The extra padding at the bottom helps. The little pocket for earplugs is very handy for air travel. Everything I need for in-flight sleep is together and handy. IF washed first to avoid the staining issue, I would definitely recommend this eyeshade to a friend.

I really liked the fit and functionality of the mask but ultimately I was really upset to find that it badly stained my bed sheets and the transferred dye would not wash out.

This mask sat in a drawer in its original packaging for more than a year before I started using it. On first use, I discovered that it ruined two sheets and two pillow cases because it stained them. Just leaving them on a pillow case between uses is enough to stain the pillowcase. I could imagine a business traveler arriving at their destination after using this mask and discovering that their white shirt or blouse is ruined.

I bought a cheap sleep mask for only $3 but it was too tight and pressed too hard against my eyelids which made it hard to focus my eyes when I took them off. The REI sleep mask has a soft elastic strap that's adjustable. It has a very soft padded strip along the bottom of it that keeps the mask from pressing against your eyelids. It also keeps the mask cooler. It comes with very comfortable ear plugs on a string. They are not good for side sleeping (they poke out too much) but they are great for napping in a seat in a car, bus or airplane. The sleep mask has a terrific little pocket to keep the ear plugs packed with the sleeping mask. Very convenient!

Tried all the eye shades in the store and this was the most comfortable. Can't wait to use it.

This was, unfortunately, not the darkest one as a little light snuck through the bottom. This might warant a half star downgrade but I like the overall design too much and I have a large head which is a factor.

I love the earplug pocket and was excited to try the plugs connected by a string (mine always fall out during sleep and are hard to locacte thereafter). Unfortunately the chord that connects the plugs carries sound like the old tin can telephone. Have not done a full demo yet but an initial trial demonstrated this downfall quickly.

Oh well, I will use the handy pocket for the earplugs I already have and can always load it up with backups for when they inevitably fall out and disappear.

I have used the 40 Blinks Eye Mask for the last 3 years so I was very upset when it wasn't in stock. I was really hesitant to try this one out since I love the Bucky so much, but I desperately needed a new mask. Luckily it all worked out, turns out this one is way better. This one exceeds at blocking out ALL light. I thought this one might be too uncomfortable since it appears much thicker and bulkier than the 40 Blinks but it's like a pillow for your eyes. I love it!

I needed an eye mask to sleep during the day after working at night. Tried a number of the cute store masks that were never very comfortable. Either too tight or didn't block enough light. I also have insomnia problems when trying to sleep during normal hours so my doctor actually said that another patient recommended this mask. Figured for all the money I spent on poor quality masks, it was worth a shot. I don't use the ear plugs, but the mask has been working great! The bulky bottom fold blocks out light from under your eyes without the mask pressing too tightly. It is bulkier than usual, but for me it is worth it. Now I use it while in grad school just to help me sleep with a more regular pattern. Dark=sleep, fluorescent=study time.

I need eye shades to sleep when it is not dark. I think I have tried nearly every brand. These were pretty good, but I found them to be too bulky for my liking. I found the Eagle Creek version to be more comfortable.

We bought two of these masks and we love it very much. My husband is very sensitive to light (the kind of person that would get irritated and be woken up by the tiny "on" light on mobile phones). He also has a high bridged nose so masks that didn't have the lower eye covering would allow tons of light in.

The design of this one was perfect for him and was sufficiently dark enough for him to sleep with. We use it at home, in airplanes and whenever we travel. The only downside that we could think of is that the outside coloring is black that it blends in with the rest of our other black travel stuff that we lost both of them during our latest trip. Nonetheless, we will be purchasing the same kind again.

We hardly used the earplugs that came with it. I do like the triple flange types and it does block out a lot of the engine noise but I move around when I sleep so the protruding handle becomes uncomfortable.
