Comments about Osprey Xenon 70 Pack - Women's:
This pack is worth the extra penny (gift certificates/20% off/and dividend helped too). You will thank yourself and then some, especially in the back country. I carried this pack on the JMT last summer (Yosemite Valley to Red's Meadow----10 days) and never had a sore back, ever. I am backpacking the Wonderland Trail(Mt Rainier--93 miles)this summer 2011 and I have complete peace of mind knowing I have this pack. The best feature is in the hydration design. It clips in/out with ease for little day hikes. It also came in handy as we climbed Half Dome. I highly recommend this backpack, especially for the avid back country backpacker.

Comments about Osprey Xenon 70 Pack - Women's:
I originally purchased this pack for an extended trip through Asia. Since then, I've been using it for everything. I LOVE this pack. I'm glad I spent a bit more than originally planned as this pack is going to be my only pack until it's hanging on by a thread.

Comments about Osprey Xenon 70 Pack - Women's:
After 10+ years with a previous pack that was getting more and more uncomfortable every year, I was a little worried to go on a 7-day trip with a new pack without having tested on shorter trips first. I had the hip belt molded, and I wore it around the house some, but that was it.
The first two days my hips were killing me. I also have bony hips (5'8", 125lbs). But on the third day I didn't notice my hips as much, and by the end of the week I wasn't dying to get my pack off at the end of the day - it was very comfortable!
We started with 40lbs, which will never be that much fun to carry. At the end of the week I was probably only down to 35lbs, since I didn't have the food.
Even though there is access to the sleeping bag compartment, I must be old school, I still retrieve my bag from the top. The hydration was great (something else new for me to get used to). I was used to a water bottle in the side pockets, and even though one will fit in the side pocket, it would be hard to get in and out yourself.
The compression straps are a bit interesting. I didn't feel I could compress it as much as I'd like. Only in certain spots, so there were areas that you could not compress.
I like the external pocket in the back (or front, depending how you look at it). I stashed my rain gear there. Plenty of straps, loops, etc for attaching stuff.
Overall a great experience, and I'm looking forward to my next trip with it!

Comments about Osprey Xenon 70 Pack - Women's:
I've been camping and backpacking since childhood and became an avid adventure backpacker in high school. As a woman of slight build (5'5"/115, I bought a Small pack/shoulder harness and an XS hipbelt) with prominent hipbones, I have always had problems with bruising on my hipbones, even on weekend trips with relatively light loads. I finally decided that it was time not to be in pain anymore. I bought a pack that, at nearly 5 and a half pounds, was WAY heavier than anything I would have considered in the past. In short, I LOVE this pack. My back and hip pain vanished when I began using it, in spite of the few pounds of extra weight. The lumbar pack is a great size for day hikes and even wall ascents, with more than enough room for a Clif bar, a water bottle, and a tube of sunblock and I use the removable reservoir sleeve, which conveniently becomes a pack using the sleeping pad straps, for mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, music festivals(!), you name it.
It's more than worth the few extra dollars ad the few extra ounces!
