Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I used to scoff at the idea of using a air mattress for backpacking but I have to admit that this thing is nice. It is very comfortable even on rocky terrain. It has kept me warm on cold winter hiking and it packs up very small. It takes up little room in my bag. I don't camp without it now.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
Comfy pad, used it for several years, patching leaks w/ included patch kit. I finally couldn't find the leaks while submerging it in a tub so I folded it in half to increase pressure. It developed a catastrophic leak due to the increased pressure. I sent back to Big Agnes and they replaced it for free. Great customer service!
I hope to get several more years out of the new pad.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I first purchased/used the insulated air core in 2007. I loved it. I am a scout leader and I backpack or car camp approx 15 nights a year (including a long and med term backpack every year). To keep up with the scouts, I utilize minimalist/ultralight practices. My 50 liter backpack dry weight is 25 pounds (w/ bear can). I gave away my older version insulated air core and purchased the newer version for a trip in nov 2012.
It appears that Big Agnes has changed materials (thinner shell) and/or put a stickier coating on the bottom (dark side). As such, it doesn't seem as durable as the previous version. However, when I used it last month (nov) car camping at Joshua tree, it performed well. The temp was in the mid 40s. Although I had my warm bag (30 deg), I didn't feel the ground or the cold. I purchased the air core for the 2.5" thickness. That high off the ground means that I don't fill it tight with air and I get more cushiony performance. For this reason alone, I recommend the insulated air core to all.
For winter performance I use a closed cell foam pad and my air core. This gives me plenty of thermal protection as well as maintains the loft above the ground/snow. The air core packs down to the size of a 1 qt bottle. I generally open the valve when I'm getting up in the morning (dump most of the air). Then I roll it w/o folding it in half (gets 95 percent of air out). Then I unroll, make the two folds necessary to fit the storage bag, and roll it up. It's packable vol and weight is comparable to a self inflatable. The air core does take a few minutes to inflate. However, it's well worth the loft verses a self inflatable.
There are lighter pads out there. However, the 2.5" loft more than compensates for the added weight.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I really like this sleeping pad. I'm exactly six feet tall, ad I have the six foot mummy pad and love it. I was very comfortable on it. Used it in down to 35 degree weather and it definitely kept the cool from the ground off of me. My husband didn't care for it though, he said that he kept sliding around on it. Think we're going to get strips of Velcro to put on it and the floor of our tent to keep it stationary at night. But it's comfy, and packs up very easily and is lightweight and small in your pack. The only downside I have for it is that it takes a few minutes to blow up, and after hiking all day or in inclement weather, that's not very desirable. Overall it's. good product for the price.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I slept on this pad only a handful of nights before I decided I had to return it. I settled on this pad because I needed one that would be thick enough that I could sleep on my side, as I have often woken up with bruised hips from using thinner typical self-inflating pads in the past, and would be very warm and light-weight. It seemed comfortable and warm enough when on the pad, but unfortunately I woke up on the ground multiple times each night. The pad seemed slippery and rather "bouncy" and high - very easy to slip around on or tip off the edge, and since it's mummy-shaped, there is little room for error. The bounciness also meant I often woke from the bouncing motion before I even fell off the pad. Probably best for very still-sleepers!

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I used this pad for bike camping. And while it did come with a patch kit, I could not find the leak without a pool or lake to submerse it in. I am really disappointed.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I loved this pad when I first got it. It is extremely comfortable. It was been out with me for about 15 nights. Each time I use it, I wake up with less inflation the next morning. I have a strong feeling that if I used it for a week more, that it wouldn't last the night. It does take forever to inflate- BTW- I am a professional trumpet player, blowing the pad up should not be a challenge for me but it is.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
Arrived quickly. Just what I wanted. Perfect for backpacking as it insulates you from the cold ground and is very comfortable. But, if you are a wide person, this is probably not for you as it could be narrow.

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
Nice mattress. Inflates easily (see video) in about 2 minutes (20 breaths). Unfortunately I had to return it as I found the 20" width was just too narrow. I sleep on my back most of the time, and my arms kept sliding off of the edges.
With the black side up it's supposed to be cooler, with the red side up the insulation hangs down and provides more thermal insulation.
I ended up needing to remove some of the air in order to be most comfortable. My body never slid off.
I might be able to make the 25" wide version work for me, but trying other 25" mattresses in the store was still not quite wide enough to make me want to try their (more expensive) B.A. 25".

Comments about Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Mummy Pad:
I found this pad to be extremely comfortable. Much better than the 2" self inflating pad from Gander Mountain! It's light and I feel better with it inside my pack as opposed to being lashed to the outside where it can encounter the thorny outdoors. Easy to inflate.
