Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
The wall gives us privacy in crowded camping situations. We can fold it half way across the side for air flow yet retain shade protection. It repels rain well.
When wind picks up, we roll the alcove wall into the corner. It works well with light wind but not strong wind.

Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
When seclusion is difficult to find, these Windwalls for the REI Alcove Shelter are a must. I rely on them to give some level of privacy in the scrubby Texas hillcountry where trees are a rare commodity!

Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
The Alcove works well. The windwalls make it work great. Each windwall covers two sides of the alcove, definitely get two to cover all sides. They hook easily and can be moved around to provide sun/wind/rain protection as needed through the day. Ours have kept us dry in a pouring rain and provided protection from an icy wind at a polar plunge.

Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
This really makes the Alcove shelter so much more complete. Even in windy conditions it makes an excellent wind-break.
Setup is super-easy as the main shelter has all the right little holes.
If you wanted to, you could put up a second to close off a third side or completly.

Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
The design of both the Windwall and the Shade Alcove allow many different partial and full wall deployments, easily changed due to the brass hook & velcro attachment points. We like being able to alter the walls to suit each campsite's need for privacy, wind protection, air flow, etc.
We have two Windwalls for our Alcove Shelter, and last week while camping we used them to create a private, 3-sided room against one side of our teardrop travel trailer. The solar shower bag was laid on the trailer roof to provide proper shower flow. We stood in a large plastic tub to catch most of the "gray water." The enclosed alcove shelter gave us ample room to shower on one side and also have chairs, towels, & clothes dry on the other side. Whether against the teardrop or the car, we can now get free hot showers in any future campground, in perfect privacy - heaven!

Comments about REI Alcove Windwalls:
We purchased this item to go with our alcove/canopy we purchased. It definitely was a great addition to the alcove. We used them when it became windy with a passing storm which made sitting under the alcove much more comfortable. It easily hooks to the top of the alcove and at the base of three poles. There is also a place to stake down the middle of the walls if it got super windy to add support. The windwall atually is one big piece that covers two walls. If you only wanted to cover one wall, there were tiebacks that could be used. We put the alcove over the tent at night in case of rain and the windwalls actually made a nice vestibule for the tent! We are considering purchasing another one to fully cover the alcove if necessary!
