Comments about One Ball Jay Biogreen Soy Wax:

Tried this based on that 4 star review. Tried using it for a season on 4 boards covering both extruded and sintered bases throughout the year (splitboarding too).

Technically, it works. You have to apply it let it cool to warm and then scrape before it turns into armor (and I have dinged a board trying to scrape it off while cold). However I found when you wax a board with this stuff normally, it's gone halfway through your day. It was better just to get the smoothest base coat on there and grind it off while riding.

What it was great at though is being that super hard, extra thick layer you just glob on there so your base doesn't dry out while waiting for next season. So, in short...

It's a great wax to protect your board in the offseason with.

Comments about One Ball Jay Biogreen Soy Wax:

You can't even scrape this wax if you let it cool. It scrapes off like hard plastic and leaves a non-uniform texture to the base.

Comments about One Ball Jay Biogreen Soy Wax:

I was excited to try this stuff. All temp, inexpensive, non-toxic, some decent reviews...

But I really don't care for this wax. It seems to soak into the base nicely and does the normal stuff you would expect a base wax to do when applying, but when it comes time to scrape, omg, it's like plastic. I usually will do 2 snowboards, or a pair of skis, or the 2 halves of splitboards at once: I hotwax one and while it cools I will wax the other. When the second is done receiving wax, I scrape and brush the first. Finally I scrape and brush the second. This works perfectly with normal wax where it is still just barely warm and scrapes and buffs easily. This bio-wax however is rock hard like plastic and does not scrape pleasantly at all. I have to go over it multiple times with a lot of pressure and I am concerned about dinging the base of my boards. Brushing to buff the structure seems to have no effect on this stuff either. And this would all be acceptable if it lasted for a week of use, but it is gone after two days of backcountry riding. Backcountry, as in most of your day is spent hiking up and very little is spent riding down. I imagine this wax would not even last a morning of resort riding. After just a few runs down our local mountain the base of my boards looks dry and needs a new tune.

It's inexpensive, non-toxic, smells neutral, and melts ok. The short time it's in the base it seems to work alright. However it is just no fun to work with and while it seems to be impervious to the usual tuning and waxing tools, it is no match for snowflakes. That's pretty backwards.

Comments about One Ball Jay Biogreen Soy Wax:

I've been using this wax for 2 years in all conditions, all times of the year, in many locales and on boards/skis with both extruded and sintered bases. It has performed beautifully in all scenarios.

It smells like soybean oil (which is a pleasant, slightly sweet odor) and as long as you scrape it when it's still just a bit warm (at about the 5 minute point in my garage) it behaves just as the petroleum-based and synthetic waxes do, only without any incredibly toxic chemicals like fluorene.
