Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

As mentioned, saddles are a very personal choice. After trying a number of other saddles including other Selle Italia models, I decided to give this one a try. I ride 80-100 miles per week and wanted a saddle that was not only lightweight but comfortable as well. This may not be the lightest saddle out there but it is definitely lighter than many of its competitors. This is also the first saddle I have used that is easy to get the right position on with my "sit bones." I have found it to be reasonably comfortable as well with no chafing or other irritations after long rides. Well worth the cost. I suggest giving it a try and buying from REI with their generous return policy if you find its not for you.

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

Saddle fit is obviously very personal and this one didn't work for me. I put this saddle on a new bike I built for 2011 because of the many positive reviews. My profile: 6ft tall, 155 lbs, riding 200 plus miles each week, and at least 2 centuries per month. This is a well made saddle, but it is also narrow at 130 mm, with a rounded cross-section profile. Initially it was uncomfortable but I hoped that with time the gel and my sit bones would reach an understanding. After 3000 miles I was still experiencing chafing and getting rubbed raw on centuries (despite good cycling shorts and chamois lube) and threw in the towel on this saddle. I switched to a slightly wider and flatter saddle (an Arione knockoff) and immediately was more comfortable and riding faster and farther. I suggest getting your sit bones measured before investing in this saddle.

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

First when you get on, you can feel the comfort anatomically on your bum. I should explain: I'm 5'9", somewhat a "wider" than average physique, a wee bit bigger bum, yet fit.

Rode a century couple months ago, and didn't have any issues during the ride AND days after. That says a lot. Ride it almost everyday on fun rides and commutes, in the rain... no problem what so ever! Very versatile riding way back on the saddle, aggressive stance, upright... it's so accommodating! Fairly light weight and pretty-looking doesn't hurt it's charm either.

I've been using it for at least six months now, and it's comfy as ever!

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

First, this is a supreme saddle. I'm 6' tall and weigh 200lbs; not the average skinny cyclist. I average 130 miles a week so a good saddle is essential. This saddle, without a doubt, is the most durable, lasting saddle that I've ever owned. Having said that, it is the only saddle that has given me sores after consistent, long rides. Believe it or not, the stock saddle on my Kestrel Talon chafes less and I experience almost no numbness on the stock saddle, which resembles a Fizik Arione in size and geometry. As with any saddle, it is a personal preference. On the other hand, you will not need to deal with poor workmanship or materials on this saddle. It is a workhorse; it just rubs me the wrong way!

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

. . . but alas, I didn't. I hated it, in fact. After 15 miles, I was in so much pain that I had to turn around. This pain is not, however, entirely the burden of the saddle. As any serious cyclist will tell you, saddles are a very personal matter. It either works for you, or it doesn't. This saddle is a long time classic, and for good reason. Apart from being so durn purty, it's very well made, extremely light, and I've heard countless cyclists sing this particular model's (that is, with the gel and cut-out) praises. What I discovered upon riding it, though, was that it was too narrow and too round for my big butt and wide sit bones. It was a wonderful saddle that just sat in the wrong place and caused me no end of grief. I switched to a Fi'zi:k Antares (much flatter, much wider) and experienced near-instant relief.

So if you come away from this review with anything, it ought to be this: this is an excellent and classic saddle that will suit the serious rider with narrow-to-normal sit bones, but who's also looking for a little extra comfort and relief. If you've got wide sit bones, you might want to consider looking elsewhere.

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

First of all, this saddle makes my entry/mid-range road bike look like a sportscar. The finish and styling are great. The seat is really light, yet feels strong, even with me at 250 lbs. Considering the relative sizes of me and the saddle, it's very comfortable. I've ridden 36 miles with little to no numbness or discomfort, which is better than I can say for the stock seat. I've yet to take a longer ride with it, but feel that it would work well, along with padded bike shorts.

The price is dear, but the seat seems very solid. I will update with any changes.

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

I put this saddle on my road bike soon after I bought it and did not truly appreciate the comfort until having something to compare it to. I never thought twice about the lack of discomfort on long rides, but after riding on other saddles on other bikes, I can finally appreciate all that the Flite Gel Flow is. Twenty miles or seventy miles, I've never experienced discomfort with this saddle. Definitely worth the investment.

Comments about Selle Italia Flite Gel Flow Saddle - Men's:

This saddle is expensive, but it is the best I have ever used. Both of my commuting/long-distance bikes are equipped with this saddle -- one is finished in white leather, and the other in black. Between the two saddles I probably have 5000 miles logged. I am of average build and I weigh 160 lbs. I mention this in case it might be helpful to know. Simply stated, and from my experience, this saddle becomes a "transparent" point of connection to the bicycle: if I am even aware of its presence, it is only in the most pleasant way. In my opinion, a price can scarcely be placed on a piece of cycling equipment which works in such harmony with both the body and bike.
