I'm a volunteer with Bay Net, Monterey [CA] peninsula. We set up spotting scopes/tripods along the Monterey Bay coast recreation trail and invite visitors to view the wildlife. Compact and lightweight binocs for kids is better than re-re-re-adjusting the scope. Kids love them, they take a beating and keep on ticking.

Our family of 5 was lucky enough to recently enjoy a Kenyan safari. Before the trip the guide highly recommended every guest have binoculars. I was hesitant to make the leap of faith for obvious reasons, figuring that such a significant investment for something that may be used only for a couple weeks was likely not going to be worth it. But I am pleased to report that these glasses were just right for our three kids, ranging in age from 8-14 years, and what's more they are available in 3 different colors. The price point is fair for what you get and each kid was able to enjoy every moment of the game drives, catching all the action, they were easy to pack and came with a handy carrying case. Since the trip the glasses have been used at sporting events and on a couple of scout outings. We had other higher-end glasses on the trip with greater magnification and brightness, so these aren't for everyone, but for occasional use and to enhance many experiences they are certainly sufficient. Interestingly enough, 1 of the 3 pairs we purchased lost grip in the hinge area, so it wanted to sort of flopped closed when held. Because of the sealed case there was no way to tighten the hinge so REI replaced it through the excellent customer service desk at the Seattle flagship store.

I talked about getting a decent set of binoculars for a while but didn't want a big/heavy or expensive pair. These are perfect. The 10X is just enough to be able to see things clearly that you wouldn't have even noticed off in the distance. They don't fog up and I don't have to worry about them being splashed while kayaking. Very packable and lightweight, rubber grips fell secure.

We bought this pair for our daughter on her first big camping trip in Olympic National park. She is five and had a hard time learning to focus them but she caught on with a few days. She loved viewing everything with them.
The only problems we had with them was the lense fogging up when our eyes were warmer than the lense.
The padded neck strap is a nice touch but the plastic parts that the strap goes through to lengthen or shorten the strap slips. We pinned the strap to its self after we even back lashed it through the buckle thinking that would help. I plan on replacing the strap with something better.

I bought these binoculars on my way to an Alaskan cruise. When I got there, I soon realized that I was having the same problem others here have reported: double-vision and poor quality. The focus on the right lens seemed to constantly change and the few times I was successful in getting it focused I'd get double-vision. One time I gave it a good whack and was able to see clearly, but that didn't last. I'll be returning these.

I took these nicely priced binoculars to Sonora, Mexico for two months of field work. They were either in my bag or on my belt at all times, however, I only pulled them out for use occasionally. The belt loop didn't last the two months, and the velcro case didn't really keep out dust and dirt like a zippered case would. Then the actual product began to show signs of poor craftsmanship. One eyepiece wouldn't stay open and instead "swung" back and forth. Also, as another reviewer experienced, the prism in the right eyepiece must have moved producing double-vision on that side. I used it is a monocular for another couple weeks, and ultimately rendered it useless and decided to return it.I'm hesitant to purchase the same pair even though this product has received great reviews from others. However, after learning that someone else experienced the same problems as I did, my conclusion is that you can't expect much from a [$] pair of specs.

The optics are almost as good as my porro prism Bushnell 6X25 8 degree binoculars which cost twice this price-- decades ago. The light gathering of the 2.6 exit pupil I found adequate for early morning birding during early summer. I had no problem attaching the cord neck strap and putting the binocs back in the provided case (cord not stuffed inside).

I wish I had as much success with my binoculars as the other reviewers. My problem is, no matter how I adjust them, I see a double image. My wife and friend had the same problem, so it's not likely a user error. Other than that, they're lightweight, feel solid, etc. Just wish I could see out of them! I plan to exchange them in the hopes that mine were just defective.
