Comments about Vasque Breeze Waterproof Hiking Boots - Kids':
Bought a pair of these for my 10 year old son in April 2012. He was going to try for his BSA backpacking merit badge so had about 100 miles of backpacking ahead of him. Now that that he is complete with his badge it is clear these boots are not very waterproof but are excellent in other aspects. In our first outing which was admittedly extreme rainfall they soaked totally. Lsst weekend was a snow camping/snowshoe backpack and they did get wet though not too bad. They were about average for warmth which was what I expected. Wear is excellent. Have great traction. His feet are wide but they fit fine, never a blister. I think they are as good as you will find for a kid. Carry a heavy load just fine and he never complained on long mile days. Great boot for multiday trips as long as it isn't multiday rain or flooded trails. If going into the wet or snow carry plastic bags.

Ordered these for my daughter for the third time. This is the only pair of hiking shoes she has ever worn (first pair when she was 5, now she's 8). She outgrows them...has yet to wear them out. We hike 10-15 miles every weekend no matter the weather through some pretty tough and sloppy terrain. These get the job done. She's never complained about her feet.

These are the most uncomfortable boots I have ever worn. They have no arch support and by the end of just a three hour hike the balls of my feet were killing me. Will go back to Merrells asap!!!

I purchased another pair of these hiking boot because my son really liked the feel of them. The new pair appear to be water resistant, but do not expect waterproof unless the boot has gortex. Perhaps the boot should be labeled water resistant. I will find out after his six day adventure hike up in Wind Rivers WY, how water proof theses are.
I tested the boots before the hike for water resistency this time: pour water on the boots and let them sit in a sink of water around the mid foot area, but do not let water enter in from the top at all!

I purchased these boots for daily use at my outdoor job at a zoo. I use them for climbing and hiking in backwoods and on rocks in weather conditions from 100 and humid to 40 below and icy. My only complaint is that the waterproofing only lasted for a couple of months at best.

I bought a pair of these boots for my son last week to give him a chance to break them in before we start our summer hiking season in earnest. Today, we took them out for a test drive.
We did a four hour hike in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois, which contains rugged, wet sandstone canyons, muddy trails, sandy trails, and long staircases.
My son and I scrambled all over slippery rocks all of which were wet and some of which were icy. The boots had a great grip, and supported his ankles very well.
We also forded some icy streams that were almost to the tops of his boots, and there was no leakage.
Finally, despite having worn these boots once before -- at the store when we were buying them -- my son did not complain at all about discomfort, blisters, fit, or stiffness. In fact, he only complained when it was time to leave, as there were 12 other canyons to explore.
We'll see how these boots hold up in the long term, but I am so very pleased with them so far. Shawnee National Forest, here we come!

I got these boots about two years ago to go on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota. They worked amazingly well. I did not have to break them in at all, they already fit my foot perfectly. While other peoples hiking boots gave them blisters, mine did not. I have now gone on two more canoe trips and they continue to work perfectly. Even when carrying a canoe for a long portage my feet never hurt or got tired. They also work just as well when they are soaking wet. The liners are easy to take out and put back in, which makes cleaning them quite easy. I also have worn these hiking boots hiking in Yosemite National Park, and while other people's shoes would slip when trying to climb up steep rock faces, mine never did. These are the best hiking boots ever and would recommend them to everyone whose feet can fit into kids sizes.

I bought these for my son when he became a boy scout. We have used these boots in soaking wet NW rainforest conditions and in cold temperatures and he has never complained about them. We are going to buy the next size up in this next time I go by the store.

First thing that struck me about these boots was what a great price they are. Straight out of the box and my 7 year old daughter has managed a couple of 8 mile + hikes on moderate terrain without any blisters or hotspots, she also loves the boots because they look like dads! To early to say how they will wear, but I'm betting she will grow out of them before they show any signs. Only comment would be they seem quiet heavy, but this is only an observation on my part - not a complaint from my daughter!
