I took this on a section of the Appalachian Trail with my dog Xena, and it was perfect. Normally, you'd have to take a foldable bowl along, pull that out, and fill it with your own water bottle to give to the dog -- then fold up the (wet) foldable bowl and put it back in your bag, where it dampens the rest of your stuff.

With this bottle, I can fit it easily in either my lumbar pack or my dog's backpack (if she's wearing it), and it has it's own water bottle attached so that I don't have to use my personal water supply. You just take it out, fold out the scoop bowl that's attached to the bottle, and squeeze to let the dog drink. My dog loves drinking out of it! And when your dog is done, you just have to flip the bottle over to rid any excess water, then flip closed the scoop bowl, which seals up the water bottle so it doesn't leak or drip. Perfect product.

We do extensive hiking with our dogs and the biggest challenge is always carrying the bowl, what to do with the extra water, where to put a wet/dirty bowl.

Since buying this water dispenser, we've solved all of those problems and made it far easier not to waste water, either. We squirt out just enough into the the trough and the dogs easily drink from it. This is a genius idea and we're very happy with our purchase.

I have used this on day hikes in all kinds of weather. What's great about it is that when the weather is bad I'm not fussing with a water bowl hoping it won't blow away or looking for a flat surface to put a bowl down on. It's quick to pull out from my backpack and put away. Love how quick and easy it is to use.

When my dog was attacked by a bigger dog at the park, we threw the water from the Gulpy into the face of the attacking dog, breaking up the fight. Having the water in the Gulpy saved my dog's life. Thank you!

P.S. The same Gulpy bottle survived being dropped out of a window from a moving car. Only one tiny skid mark!

We use it on day trips hiking, or traveling by car with my dog. It is very comfortable to carry. No great capacity, but can be re-filled with my own bottle. The drop-down tray is the perfect size for the dog's tongue, and the bottle fits neatly into the pockets of my backpack.Another remarkable point is that as the dog is sucking the water, filling will simultaneously pressing the container. That way you avoid the unnecessary loss of water. It is very easy to clean, and when closed it does not leak.I am very happy with this product, and "PERITAS" as well. (see picture)

This is great until it breaks. If there's water in it, dropping it a foot or two is all it takes. Dogs tussling over who gets to drink first will do it as well if it's open. We had two and they were both broken within a month of purchase. I like the idea, but won't buy one again until the design is improved.

Bought at a local REI, took it home, dog loved it. Took it out on the trail and it broke the first time we pulled it out. Flipped the bowl out and leaned down so it was about a foot off the ground and it slipped out of my hand and shattered.

Great idea... and the valve system is much better than other brands... BUT the bowl needs to be made of semi-pliable silicon or even the same sort of plastic as the bottle, NOT the hard brittle stuff it is made of. For a product that is advertised for use in hiking... it is NOT durable.

Until they fix the design of the bowl... I WILL NOT recommend this product to a friend or even a casual acquaintance. lol
