    Comments about SealLine Seal Pack:

If the roll top is secured using the side straps (as pictured) the bag leaks easily. However, if the ends of the roll top are clipped together (as on a standard dry bag), the bag comes much closer to being waterproof.

    Comments about SealLine Seal Pack:

My wife and I use these in our canoe to keep items that we need to protect from water, but also want to keep handy. Stuff like point and shoot cameras, cell phones, GPS, binoculars, meds, etc.

It's a great item as long as you don't expect it to keep everything dry in a prolonged submersion (Note: The mfrs. website says it's only appropriate for quick submersions).

It does what it is designed to do and protects the contents from splashes, rain and a brief dunking.

I like that it has several carrying options. I can wear it like a fanny pack, have it in front or strap it over a thwart in the canoe.

This pack should not be used by anyone who plans to spend time in the water as it leaks. I could not find any way to close it that solved this problem.

Bought this bag when traveling to Costa Rica. Was told that we may encounter rain frequently and wanted to protect my camera lenses, etc. I used it to carry my extra camera lens and compact flash, plus a few extra items.
It was great to have my hands free when hiking. My gear stayed nice and dry. Was a great item to have with me!

Good product. Meets design intent, but is not a 'dive bag'. Used same product in the rain for many days in the Sangre de Cristo mountains...got it home, and someone else must have liked it too...had to buy another one.

I bought this primarily to hold my cell, wallet and other small items in the hatch of my sea kayak and to use this as a hip pack while on short hikes on land.
Also used this cycling in predicted wet weather. Works fine as a waist pak- comfortable around my waist, easy to get to gear. Little outside packet comes in handy.
Great product for wet climate protection on land.

            Comments about SealLine Seal Pack:

I tested in in my pool prior to using. It will leak if partially (folded top down in the water) or fully submerged when folded as Seal Line instructs. If Seal Line had allowed for one more fold it would have likely sealed better. It might seal better after some use, as the material is pretty stiff and would seal better if the fabric would lay flatter when rolled up.
Still, it works fine for rain or splashing water. Just DO NOT put any electronics in it under any circumstances and expect them to survive ANY prolonged water exposure. I'm using it in conjunction with a small Otterbox to keep all my phone and ipod in, and toss my keys, sunglasses, etc inside. It's built to last a long time, and makes a perfect emergency water container!

Brand new and filled with two inches of water when my kayak overturned in the ocean. Zippered part too small to hold anything. Luckily I had my cell phone in an AquaPak inside of this worthless thing.

            Comments about SealLine Seal Pack:

I bought this to go along with my newly purchased kayak earlier this year. I bought it, thinking it would make for a decent, waterproof snack bag, but I ended up turning it into my kayak's ditch-bag. I loaded it up with essentials -- a space blanket, some pain relievers, an energy bar, some chemical warmers, a pocket knife -- and sealed it all up nice-and-tight, thinking they'd all stay nice and dry in this bag. Well, after getting a bunch of water in the cockpit of my boat and having this bag sit it that water for several hours (7 hours of paddling that day), I was disappointed to find it filled with salt water. This ruined a bunch of the items that were stashed in there and left the bag smelling like a medicinal energy bar. So, if you're looking for waterproof, this isn't your bag. If highly water-resistant will work for you, though, you'll likely be happy with this bag.

              Comments about SealLine Seal Pack:

I use this standup paddleboarding and I keep my iPhone, keys and wallet in it. I've fallen in several times while wearing this and it did not leak. The company that makes it lists it as a "Level 2" waterproof pack (on their website) which, they state, means it is only waterproof for brief submersions. So I'm sure the people complaining about it leaking are right because they had it underwater for minutes at a time. But it stays dry if you just fall in and get out quickly. I'm totally happy with it and glad REI carries the product.
