Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
I bought this knife a few years back.
The handle can be somewhat slippery at times, but I have not found this to be a big problem.
I have taken it Canoeing,Hiking, and Diving(in salt water).
(the hole is great for securing the knife to yourself with paracord or something)
If It spends very much time in the water the markings corroed.
But once it doesn't look nice anymore you can do just about anything with it.
I also carried it working for a Privite Security Office in downtown Indianapolis for a year and a half. It's a great little buddy to have under your suit jacket.
It is on the heavier side but I never thought of that as being a problem.
This is a good knife for the all American at heart and will handle just about anything you throw at it or throw it at.

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
This is a great back-up knife to carry on your gear. I have it strapped to the shoulder of my backpack upside down so I can quickly get to it if necessary.
The weight is great on the knife, although the grip is not very good. Just wrap some tape around the grip and you should be fine.

One of the best knives I've owned. The balance is very nice and I barely feel it wrapped around my leg on the trail.

I have had this ice for a bit over a year and it has never failed me. The double sided blades do take a bit to get used to and cannot be dues very well if you do any kind of batoning. The sheath to me is great because I like to carry my knives in the scout position. I had some problem with the grip in wet conditions but found a para cord(550) wrap did wonders(watch where the wrap is started because of the sheath clip). Overall a great knife as a back up while out and about.

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
htis is an overall great knife, amazing wieght and i love the fact that it is made out of one whole piece of steel which makes it very durable. ive abused this knife alot. the blade has scratches but thats not the blades fault, its mine. ive dropped it, threw it a few times( works pretty well actually). the sheath on this knife is also great. multiple carry positions, and will not fall out!bought this knfie probably a year ago, and i lofve it. its great for campign and such. at first the blade was great, bu now i cant manage to get a decent edge on it.. which again is probably my fault. the edges will rust, but thats it due to the coating.. but oil will fix all that. im condsidering buyign a new one, so that i have one in the car as well as my camping kit. overall a great knife.

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
This is a nice, heavy little knife. The weight caught me off guard but not at all in a bad way. My only real gripe is the grip on this knife. Had CRKT used some texture in the handle or maybe a rubbery layer it would have been nice. My knives go through a lot and good grip is essential. I'm in Iraq so I don't encounter much water at the time, but I could see using this knife in a wet environment pretty sketchy without added athletic tape or something on the handle.
All in all I'd say it's a nice little knife for a back-up or self-defense. Won't be coming with me on my Thru-Hike of the AT next year though as I wouldn't consider it worth it's weight for such a trip.

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
A perfect knife for most purposes; 1050 is a relatively soft carbon steel, but by the same token it is stronger than most steels and will hold an edge well.
The blade is powder-coated which means the coating will be even.
Carbon steel will rust, but the coating makes this unlikely if you take proper care of the blade. It is not meant to be a dive knife, but for backpacking and other outdoor or even water sports it is perfect (again, if you take care of it).
The grip is very comfortable and weighted well. The knife has some heft to it so if you are an ultralight backpacker it may not be for you, otherwise it feels very good to handle.
Check your local laws before purchasing, the blade is illegal or illegal to conceal without a permit in many states.
Service and delivery comments:
Delivery was prompt and product was in good condition

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
This is a great knife but the sheath needs some work. When the Velcro leg straps rubbed against the sheath it stated to wear at the sheath and tore it up. The knife is good and a cool design but it was not very sharp and had to sharpen it before it could do good cutting.

this knife is great, requires maintenance though, i sharpen it about once a week to make sure she's ready, she hangs out very comfortably on the bottom of a backback shoulder strap, visible to all. great knife to practice throwing with too,

Comments about Columbia River A.G. Russell Sting Knife:
Other reviews have said that this knife is a little heavy, and it is. But, it would not be very noticeable on a belt or on the strap of your backpack. It is very durable, but in exchange it requires diligent upkeep or it will rust. I am more than an average knife guy, and it really sucks when you get a pretty good knife and a crummy case or sheath. That is not an issue here. The case that comes with this knife is of very good quality and employs a pretty smart Velcro strap system so that you can strap it anywhere from your belt to your calf. I give this knife Two Thumbs UP.
