I'm just getting into trad climbing and was in need of both a rappel backup as well as a general-purpose friction hitch cord, so I picked these up.

While I understand why they did it, the super-bomber attachment on these (figure 8 bend with 2+ inch sewn ends) leads to a 6+ inch section of inflexible cord, which really gets in the way of most friction hitches. IMO, it's basically unusable for an autoblock rappel backup.

Fortunately, the cord is great, though, and can easily be repurposed. I cut out the knot on both and turned the blue into a 36" loop for an autoblock and the red into a 22" Penburthy.

Ultimately, though, I'd recommend just finding some good, grippy raw cord and getting it cut to the exact length you need.

There are other ways to get the same function, but these cords are perfect for backing up a repel or adding extra protection when backing off a climb. I'm not sure there are many ways to use these cords other then as a prusik.
I find the longer blue cord a little bit more useful then the shorter red cord.

I purchased these so that I could ascend a rope in a pinch. They are too thick (my fault should have read better) and don't really work for what I wonted them for. I have made my own instead of using then and like the home made version better. I didn't return them as I was thinking I can use them for other things and have not as of yet. I would recommend making your own and passing on these.

I can not say they are poor quality they just are not good for what they are intended for. Use your own judgment when ordering.
