Excellent vest that's tough to top. While marketed for women these are a great choice for anyone, male or female. There is a reason these are one of Kokatats best sellers. I keep safety items in my pockets full time and still have extra space for more should I need during a trip. Always in my vest is; safety blanket, whistle, waterproof flashlight, two ways to start a fire, signal mirror, a few ibuprofen and a couple Benadryl (for allergic reactions), two or three energy bars and my car keys. In the words of a Coast Guard rescue swimmer, 'if you don't have it on you, you don't have it!' If my boat completely sinks out from under me, I still have all the above mentioned items secured in my vest.

Ordered what I thought was the right size but it was huge, had to return. Next time I'll go to the store to try them on in person.
However, it seemed really well made and worth the money. It had features the lesser-priced ones did not.

Well I couldn't get anyone to help me so I picked out a PFD tried it on I liked the fit and the look. I was very happy at that time
I went kayaking that weekend
While I was packing up I noticed the "W" in the model number . When I got home I looked it up and it's a women's PFD
Maybe someone would have told me that or I should have looked a little harder
Well I'm all man 6'3" and 230 pounds and it fits me great ;)

I really wanted to like this PFD. It felt secure, and I liked the wide reflective bands, pockets and bright orange color.
It took me a long time to get it adjusted just so, and still I never felt I got the shoulder straps where I wish they could have gone (shorter). That coupled with the long cut back, I always felt it rode up while paddling.
The padding up by the shoulders is squared off rather than tapered, so it felt much bulkier than it needed to. Yes, I know it has a job to do and PFDs are intended to be floatation and not a fashion statement but with the above 2 factors I felt like my lower face would sometimes just disappear into it.
Still, I really wanted it to work out. It took me taking self rescue classes and practices in it to finally just give up on it. In the photo here at REI it appears the pockets are flush, but they are not. The tops of the two black pockets are squared and stick out about a 1/2 inch. This being the case, plus the ride up, I had challenges greater than I should have getting myself back into my boat, as the pocket lips would catch on the edge of my boat. Even once having a friend help haul me out, I had to wriggle past the pockets to get on board.
When I figured this out, I returned it and got a Stolquist, which is more tapered in the foam at the shoulders, the pockets are flush and there is the cross strap system that holds the pfd down on your body to avoid the ride up.
I like and trust Kokatat products, but this one just didn't work out for me. I'd suggest to the makers to pin the tops of the pockets, contour the shoulder foam, raise the back of the jacket about an inch. and allow the shoulder straps to close tighter another 1/2 inch to an inch and then this jacket would be spot on.

Only used this once, but I am very happy with it. Does not ride up while you are paddling and it is very comfortable. For the most part, I forgot that I had it on. My husband and I both bought one (even though they say they are for women). He grew up on the water and has worn many PFDs and he thinks this one is the most comfortable he has ever worn. It has many adjustment points and lots of pockets. Definitely a good value.

This is a good PFD overall, but I found it difficult to adjust. You ought to be able to tug on the straps and have a PFD tighten without having to struggle. I found that I really struggled with this one. And even though it was the correct size for me (I couldn't have gone any smaller or larger) it seemed a little too roomy. However, that could also be due to the fact that I was having a difficult time tightening it. After spending 2 hours trying on women's PFD's I decided to go with Stohlquist. I have owned Stohlquist in the past, they fit well, are easy to adjust and seem to be the best way to go for me.

I have paddled in this vest (kayaked) on fast and slow water, in cold and warm weather and found it very comfortable. I am well-endowed in the breast area, and this was the most comfortable vest I have ever had on. I have capsized at 3 times in some very rapid rivers this year and it kept my head out of the water right away. Worth the extra money, but everyone should try on their vests before buying - as ease of use while paddling is of utmost importance.

Fantastic fit... Lots of straps make adjustments very easy. Definitely important when moving from summer to winter paddling and the associated increase in layers. Pockets are perfect, enough for me to carry a couple snack bars, my digi cam, and some extra chapstick and sunscreen. It's a touch hefty for my preference with kayaking (it's gotten a lot of rafting use) but haven't made the switch to a lower profile for kayaking yet, because honestly it's just not that pressing of a need. Mobility is excellent, no chafing or awkward tightness.
The only thing I can say that's not quite up to par for me is the color. I purchased a brighter color, with the idea being ease of spotting the PFD through the water. However, after a few months of moderate use it's faded to it's current pastel version. No further fading in the past 3 years, but I've seen other brands that don't fade nearly as quickly. I love Kokatat though, and would definitely recommend it to others.

This pfd just didn't work for me. I'm a petite female, and according to the kokatat size chart I should take a size small in this pfd. The size small does seem to fit, but the cut of the armhole is just too confining for comfortable arm movement. I also tried on a medium, but that size was way too big for me. It seems like a very nice pfd, but the sizing seems odd to me.
