These are the perfect personal chopsticks; they are compact and easier to carry around due to the "half" length when packed. Though it would be nice if they had ridges to hold food better at the ends, then again you can't have EVERYTHING you want.

I'm super busy, working two jobs and going to school full time, and my meal times kept getting shorter and shorter. So as an effort to slow down and enjoy meals I decided to start using cheap throw-away chopsticks.
A month into the experiment my boyfriend surprised me with this travel pair! They have held up very well since Dec 2011. They are stable and light weight and easily fit into the pouch provided.
I would recommend them anyone who wants to add a new element to their meals or is in need of a gift good idea!

I hate to dissent but I own these sticks and find them awkward to eat with. They are thick in back and sharply tapered. If you use the traditional (no crossed sticks) grip there is not enough room for your middle finger so you have to jack the back of the top stick way up on your thumb to oppose the tips. The skinny tips do not work well for sweeping food in your bowl or into your mouth.
Try them first to make sure they are for you.

Felt a little indulgent paying [$] (full price) for these, since that is about twice most of the other travel chopsticks out there. But worth it! Super for travel through Asia. Best features were how compact they are when not in use. Carrying case keeps them together and easily reachable in a bag. Really like the long wood bottoms for noodles and soups, as others mentioned. Assembling, cleaning, put away probably a touch longer than other sticks out there, but nothing to sweat over. Nice feel to them.

As with all SnowPeak products, these are not cheap. But they are also VERY well made! And as with everything else I have from SnowPeak, I use them constantly.
A warning though... In Asian culture, it is rude to bring/use your own chopsticks. It is considered an insult, that you don't think theirs are good enough, or clean enough to use. Reality is in America, nobody really cares if you pull these out in a restaurant. But if your invited into somebodies home, do not try to be cool and pull these out. You will likely insult your Asian host!

I LOVE these I would have given it five stars but I hate that they went to so much effort making these compact and streamlined then they stuck them in a too big bag that they just sort of float around in. Why make the chopsticks so tiny and the bag oversized? I would prefer if these came in a little streamlined box or smaller bag. Something I could in my purse rather than hang around my neck...don't use them much because they are too bulky with string on it for my purse and i am not going to walk around town with these on my neck.

But, I've used them several times - field trips, at home, at restaurants,even camping! Easy to clean. Convenient to us. I keep them in my daypack and laugh when everyone else is trying to use plastic sporks!
