I suppose there is not much you can say about a duffel bag. I needed a mesh bag to carry my kayaking clothes both before paddling when they are dry and afterward when wet. This fills the bill nicely and for the size is cheaper than comparably sized mesh bags at other outdoor retailers who apparently must remain nameless due to REI's review policy.

Anyway, one end of the bag has a large, handy zippered pocket where you can keep smaller items such as gloves, goggles, noseplug, safety whistle etc that might be hard to locate and dig out of the big main compartment. The other end has a self - storage pocket so that when the bag is empty you can fold it and zip it up. I plan to keep my kayak gear in this at all times so I can just grab the bag and go when ready, so I suppose I will not be using the self storage feature. I have only had the bag a few weeks so can't comment on durability but the mesh seems sturdy enough. I am not sure though I would trust checking it through airline baggage. A solid canvas duffel of the same size might be a better option for that. Otherwise, no complaints. A large, useful bag that happened to be exactly what I was looking for with the benefits of a good price and REI's usual outstanding ordering and delivery customer service.

Simple bag simply built well. I use it for my whitewater gear, and it is just the right size to hold my drysuit, booties, PFD, helmet, elbow pads, throw rope and the rest of my gear. I've been using it for a couple of years now and it is held up well. I can't really think of anything that's gone wrong or that I find annoying.

You will have your tent set up before anyone else is done carrying their gear to camp if you have one of these. I can put all my little stuff in it at camp and just make one trip from the kayak to my camp spot...Wonderful !!

I bought one of these to haul all my sea kayaking gear to and from launch points and camp sites. If you've done multi-day sea kayak trips, you know how much gear goes along with this - dry bags, water containers, wet/dry suits, spray skirt, PFD, paddles, and so on. This bag is big and sturdy enough to handle all of this, often in one load. I use it to shuttle everything down from my car, then I toss it into the hatch of my boat after I get everything else loaded. Once I arrive it's right there, ready to haul everything up to wherever my camp site happens to be. Way better than multiple trips, trying to grab a bunch of loose bags, squirmy water containers, etc. One home, I rinse it thoroughly with fresh water, hang it up overnight, only to find it dry, odor-free and ready to go again the next day!
