by fromFalse Advertisement The Aurora Bivy Sack is advertised on the REI website as MADE IN THE USA. The visibly cheap looking imitation of the original Aurora Bivy's (Purchased 3) I just received in the mail are all Made in China. USA made products are a big selling point for me. Because these were purchased for work taking them back is not an option. I am very disappointed in the cheap construction of these Bivy's, compared to the one I have used reliably in freezing Alpine weather for several years.

by fromSleep and soak Fine if there's no rain. But, if there is, it leaks, little breathability, and the humidity build up inside soaks your sleeping bag. Looks the perfect kind of product, but don't be fooled!

by fromFailed Used this product for part of a AT through hike. While warm light and small, it failed to keep me dry. The condensation issue was minor, and while you can sleep on snow pack with it okay, if you have precip coming down your gonna get hosed. I switched out to a quarter dome t1 for the rest of that hike and was glad I did.

by fromNot an effective shelter I used this bivy during part of a long distance 3 season hike. It is quite light fast and simple, and the condensation issues were moderate. It performed well in protecting me from wet ground conditions, both ground, and snow. It also performed okay in light rain, but completely failed in a serious downpour. You need to have a tarp over this if you want to be able to count on it. One good T-storm near Bear Mtn NY, and I was soaked. That's why I have a tent now.

by fromLightweight GORE-TEX Bivy Review I bought this because it is supposed to be made of a special GORE-TEX that breathes very well. I found an article on the Internet that stated some of these bivy's produced did not contain this special GORE-TEX. I called OR and they assured me the bivy was made of the correct GORE-TEX. I went backpacking with it this past summer in the Olympic mountains in Washington. Each morning I awoke to condenstation so bad my sleeping bag was very wet. I backpacked in the same mountains last year with a REI mimimalist and did not have this problem. The bag is well made, but considering the consendation issues I would not recommend it.

by fromGood for short trips it will work great in summer, late spring and may be some early fall days. No much room and the zipper is not the best

by fromWon't replace a tent Sweats inside a bit, but it could be because the temperature was 80's at night. Zipper on the bug screen was often difficult to manage.

by fromCompact and Handy in a pinch Great Bivy. Lightweight and quick to set up. Waterproof, but with the option to use the fly netting layer instead on warmer nights. A must for all risky ventures. Could use cinch-down straps on the stuff sack.
