Love these toe caps! I run half marathons, and wear a running shoe that is a half size bigger than my street shoe; however, i still got black and red bruised toenails on both my feet. i also sometimes get cuts on one of toes from the toenail next to it digging in to the other toe. these toe caps took care of all that! they look big, like they would only fit your big toe, but they actually fit nicely on my other toes. since the silicone is a little sticky, they stay in place very well. they don't feel much different than a band-aid on your feet. i did some short runs (3-6 miles) to test the toe caps before my half marathon this morning, and i did not have cuts, sore toenails or additional brusiing. and they performed just as well on my half! i ended the run without any sore toenails, no cuts, no blsiters (sometimes bandaids gave me blisters on my toes). i will use toe caps until i buy my next pair of shoes (in 1 full larger size).

I have a toe on my left foot that must be a bit longer than the others because I constantly seem to get a blister at the tip of it and almost always eventually lose the nail. This is my 3rd year doing the SGK 3-Day for the Cure (60 miles over 3 days). I have tried everything to pamper that toe & have had some success. But I saw the toe caps at REI & I was curious whether they would work. So far they are working GREAT. I like that I can quickly slip one on over that problem toe, rather than spending several minutes bandaging. I also like that I can take it off & re-use it - the cap not the toe :-). Although I did not like the initial cost, it seems to be worth the price. Just be sure to remove the toe cap as soon as you are done hiking/walking etc. Not something to be left on when not needed.

Toe caps work on your big toes. BUT...they don't stay on your smaller toes. If you get blisters on your big toes often, then this is a great product! But if you get blisters mainly on your pinky toes or other small toes, then you're wasting your money.

Used these on a 2 day hike across the White Mountains in Hew Hampshire and they were worth their weight in gold. My buddy used one since he had a blister forming before the hike even started because he had new boots. He said it worked great and even re-used the one for the next days hike. I used 3 as 3 of my toes started to get painful from my foot sliding forward in my boot and it also worked great. No blister, nothing. They stay on all day and protect any toe that might be forming a blister or already have a blister. I won't hike without these. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

I bought these for my fiance. We were training for a half-marathon and a few of her toes were blistering bad (changing colors). She started wearing a few of these and within a week or two the toes started to heal and she hasn't had trouble since (as she wears them during every run).

I recently was having the same problem and started wearing one. Not only has it helped with the blister, but in the same toe I was feeling the signs of what seemed to be a stress fracture. After I put one on every time I ran, it seemed to really help stabilize and provide a little extra cushion for that toe.

As I've read from another review, they do turn off-color pretty quick, but just put some anti-bacterial stuff in there before you put it on and you're golden!

I was a bit skeptical when I bought this product. However, my toes are so blister prone that I was willing to give it a try. In 2006, during a 210 mile hike in JMT; I got 5 blisters on my left foot and 6 blisters on my right foot.

Recently(in 2008), I went back to do a 100 mile section in King Canyon's National Park. I wrapped my most-prone toe(pinky) with J&J tape and snugged in this cap. For other toes except my big toes; I applied some Vaseline and snugged in these caps as well. After several days of hike, I had a hot spot developed on my pinky toe but other toes remained well - no blisters :)

One drawback is; it won't fit MOST big toes. Mine don't fit - but I don't get blisters on my big toes. I will definitely buy them again in the future. Well worth the investment for my blister-free quest....

They turn brown quickly though; to prevent any bacterias and germs from growing in there; I applied some Neosporine to kill them. Also, they do retain moisture so I take them off several times a day when I take a break. Nothing is perfect I guess but instead of getting 11 blisters; I got none this time :)
