        I use this for commuting on a road bike...didn't want to put a full on rack to the bike. This serves my purpose well as I use the one of the bags that clip into the rack. It carries a change of clothes and some tools. I agree the rubber piece makes it too complicated for quick release and once you put it on, you want to leave it on. I saw someone mention it hadn't held up well for them when they loaded 20 lbs on it,,,but the specs and packaging clearly call out a 15lb limit. I usually carry about 8 lbs daily and have used this on 2 bikes for the last 7 years. It's durable enough for me and I love it.

          I bought this to put on my Fat Bike for doing bike packing and it mounts nicely. Glad I bought the bolt on and not the QR style as the weight of the gear may cause the rack to move if it were the QR.

          This rack is light enough to commute with. The rubber pieces that go between the seat post and rack clamp are too fussy to make it something you'll take on and off quickly. So plan to put it on and leave it on.

          It is for the Topeak Quick Track system, so I recommend using the bags made for it. If you get the Trunk EX the pannier holders can be taken off. If you get the Trunk DXP, leave the pannier holders on, the panniers bungee to the prongs at the bottom of the brackets to prevent sway.

          I commute 12 month a year and was tired of hauling gear on my back. I couldn't put a full rack on my racing-style bike so this was the only option. I had to swap out a carbon fiber seat post for steel to support the rack, but it was worth it. This rack has served me well.

          It works well with waterproof Ortlieb City-Biker panniers (which are great) if you take care not to swing the bike too much while climbing hills. The cons are that the plastic rear light mount quickly broke off and the raw ends of the side beams scarred the panniers even after I covered the rails with duct tape. Still, it beats riding with gear on my back!

            I was suprised my wife got me this as a gift. It turned me into an everyday bike commuter. The rack is very light and durable. I never take the weight to the limit set by Topeak. As with all Topeak products I have used the quality is outstanding. This rack only pairs with the RX trunk bags, if you want to go with more space you need the other series racks Topeak offers. For a road bike this worked perfect, maybe a little too perfect, my wife turned into a bike widow. The rack and the bag I got for this rack go everywhere with me now. The only thing I have ever noticed was a tail sway that I started to encounter when I have loaded the bag with side paniers deployed. Other than that this is an awesome way to carry stuff to work or on an extended tour, while keeping your back unburdened.

              Purchased for commuter use. Quick on/off install, lightweight, stable, great with Topeak trunk bag. Carried change of clothes, shoes, a few files (8-12 lbs total) to and from work (16 mi RT). My rack was rated for 20 lbs max. Less than 1 year later, the aluminum tube fatigued and cracked through about 1 cm behind the seatpost mounting bracket. Not at the weld, but in a straight section of the tube. Fatigue may be due to occasional curb-jumping (my commuter is a modified mountain bike) but this wasn't off-road use.

              I'm a little dissappointed in the product, but certain that REI will treat me right when I bring it into my local shop this weekend to exchange for a sturdier frame-mounted Topeak rack.

              Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

                I ride a bike that with a racing geometry that doesn't support a full pannier set so I got this for long rides with groups. It's perfect for an overnight with minimal gear (not a tent) or a long ride where you might want to bring some extras.
