Comments about SmartWool Light Hiking Socks - Women's:
Love these socks in fall, winter, spring - have not tried them yet in summer. I wear these socks almost every day, and maybe I shouldn't admit it, but often go many days without washing - a bonus when traveling. They stay smelling great, and the Cush and warm are so welcome in the winter months. Hiked with athletic socks, got major blisters, hiked with these, feet were great - same boots. Gave several as gifts for Christmas.
The only beef I have is that they pill quickly. It does not make them any less useful, just doesn't look as great.

!st of all, I have to say I have Princess and the Pea feet, everything has to be perfect or I am so uncomfortable. I have been wearing the REI lightweight wool socks for hiking around Wa state and to Southern Utah. My daughter gave me these SmartWool hiking socks and I was a little perturbed, I LOVE REI! But it pains me to say, the SmartWool socks are consistently holding up better, no wearing out, even the color remains strong. I ran out of regular socks one day for work and wore these. They were so comfortable. I started wearing these socks and the REI wool socks to work every day as a nurse for the past year. When I buy more, I will buy SmartWool socks (even though they cost quite a bit) they are worth it. I always thought I was allergic to wool but these are cozy and comfortable year around for indoor and outdoor activities.

I have worn the same pair of these socks every other day for, I am not joking, the past FIVE years. They have been washed about 1000 times and there is still hardly any sign of wear. I work in construction, I wear them all day on the job site, the year round. I hike in them, I snowshoe in them, I climbed mount Kilimanjaro in them and they still will not give up. I bought one pair of these and two of another brand that REI doesn't carry anymore. All of the socks got the exact same treatment and the SmartWool socks are still perfect while the other two are long since destroyed. Do you get how awesome these socks are?

Can't say enough great things about these socks. Just backpacked 2 days in 90 F temps, and feet stayed cool, dry and comfortable as can be. Highly recommended for backpacking. Note: these socks say light, but they are slightly thicker than the average sports or tube sock.

I first bought these socks about 10 years ago for hiking. They wear like iron. They wick away moisture. Plus they are very comfortable. They are so comfy that I even wear them around the house. I slowly got rid of all my other socks and wear these socks exclusively. One funny issue with the black color: little bits of fuzz come off the socks when I remove them. This is not an issue with the other colors. Very odd. I stopped buying black. Finding size small is sometimes an issue, so please, REI, carry size small in your stores.

I am really choosy about socks. I bought these for a lighter pair for summer but for me to be comfortable, they still have to be cushy with no irritating seam ends and maintain their size and wear well. They fit the bill except a thread pulled at the top of one puckering it up. They are a cooler pair for summer hiking. Overall, very nice.
