    The original saddle that came with my mountain bike did not give me much trouble until I started to also use my bike for commuting of about 1 hour 15 minutes non-stop each way. It gave me groin numbness, so I decided to shop for a better saddle.

    This Serfas E-Gel Cruiser Saddle is wide to support the bones, well-padded, with deep central grove to allow normal blood flow. I have been doing the same commute several times already and I no longer have groin numbness.

    This saddle is a bit on the heavy side. Most of the weight is in the spring underneath. But when I install it on my bike, it doesn't feel that bad. I am not going for racing, so comfort is more important for me.

    After reviewing seats online, I bought this seeking a soft seat for primarliy commuting,then trail riding. Maybe I'm still breaking it in (or it's breaking me in!), but after mountain trail rides, my inner thigh muscles where it touches the seat were more sore than what I expected from a gel seat. It's good for long road rides, but again, I expected a softer ride and more shock absorbtion for a seat with springs.
    It's also worth sharing that angling the seat level is challenging because the bars under the seat in which you secure the seat clamp to your post diverge just at point where the seat is about level (as opposed to pitched upward slightly where it wants to go). The jury is still out for how the seat works for the long haul, being a new addition.

    Had to take this back to REI because of tears in the outer surface. First tear was on me flipping the bike upside down in the garage (to work on it) and raking the seat across the floor so ultimately on me. The second however was inexplicable and I can only attribute to me most recent two rides, both of which I was wearing pocketless board shorts. Overall really weak outer layer with gel directly underneath, when tear occurred it was like a window chip turning into a giant crack. No hope of repairing.

        Normally, I ride a Cannondale R800 during nice weather. However, during the winter, I do a lot of riding on my stationary bike to keep my legs through the cold months. The factory seat on my stationary was so uncomfortable that I found myself squirming trying to get comfortable after just 10 minutes. As a result, my times on the stationary kept getting shorter and shorter. The E-Gel Cruiser solved the problem. Pure comfort and no numbness. Now, staying on the stationary for 60 minutes seems nearly effortless compared to the old saddle.

          This seat makes riding fun again and I've steadily increased my mileage. After 2 or 3 seasons the seat cover split. Serfas tells me hot sunlight will do this and it isn't warranted. You'll also burn your butt if you hop on the seat after it sits in the sun. I need to rig some sort of cover.

              I got this seat for my Mukluk snowbike. This seat is super comfortable for long rides, especially when riding in an upright position. Works great for winter riding. Stays soft and comfortable, even below zero.
