Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

Bought this rope for climbing with my kids. Safety is the key factor and wanted a new rope to use just with them. The price was great and it's a nice looking rope. It's pretty heavy but we wont be using it for any multi-pitch climbs anyway, it's also pretty stiff but I think it will become more supple with use.

Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

Just started toproping 3 weeks ago and this is my first rope. The price was perfect for me and the diameter is very comfortable. I've used it about 10 toproping climbs and it works great. I gave it 5 stars because I'm not sure what to compare it to and I haven't noticed anything that I don't like about it.

Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

I have been climbing for the better part of six years now. After 5 years of mooching gear off people I finally caved this past year and bought my first rope. After taking it out probably 20-30 times, this is a strong durable rope. After about 8 months of battery, it is showing signs of fraying, but is still in solid condition. It has slightly higher than average fall ratings, but is tad heavier. My main complaint with this rope is that it is a very stiff rope. One of my friends has a Petzl Xion and another has a Sterling, and those feel much more supple and 'flowy.'

This is great beginner rope, and often if friends are coming we'll lead with another then throw this up for a top rope, but for leading anything it's usable. It is much to stiff to be desirable, but it works and for the price it's a great deal. As this is my first rope I inherently love it, but I often wish I spent the extra 50$ and bought the Petzl instead.

Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

This is a good strong rope. On the thicker end of the rope spectrum, this rope still runs through belay devices very well. Even being thick, the weight per meter compares to nicely to thinner more expensive ropes. We use this rope when there is short approach hikes as it is bulky and does not coil up very small. It also tends to kink a little right after taking it out of the bag, flake it out a little and it's fine. And that is the reason I have given only 4 stars: bulky and kinky.

As far as durability, it has held up well after about 20 days of climbing so far, both lead and top rope. We have yet to take a major lead fall, so I am not sure about how it absorbs a fall. But it stretches pretty good just when falling a short distance. The fall ratings are also comparable to some nicer more spendy ropes. We do most of our climbing in the North Bend area of Washington, the rock is usually sharp and sometimes damp, but the rope is still in good shape.

For the price, I will probably get another after this guy retires for when I need a good work horse of a rope.

Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

This rope was used to guide my young boys on their first decent. Basically a trail with a few boulder's that zigzagged down the 150" hillside. Most of the time it was just a hand line. But worked great for the few times we had to repel on climb. This rope has very low stretch and is heavy duty. Our gear worked great with it ( figure 8, quick draws, 7mm. peresuk and climbers. I was very pleased with this rope especially for the price under $150.

Good rope for the price. Kinda heavy but good for running laps as a toprope. Wears well but is kinda stiff out of the bag.

Comments about New England Equinox 10.2mm x 60m Dry Rope:

Needs to be flaked a few times before you use it, and then switch ends after every use for the first few climbs, I've had no problems with it kinking at all. It feels nice in your hands, clipping is a breeze, and it's pretty dirt resistant. A little on the heavy side, but I like the added security when climbing over rough rock. If you can get it on sale, even better deal, but I would re buy it at cost. They should have put a center marking on it, that and the rubber cover on the ends of the rope get caught when trying to undo fig-8 after taking the first fall, I suggest getting rid of them before that point. Those are the only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars.

It's kind of fat and heavy so it might not be the best choice if you're pushing your limits on sport climbs. But it's a good dry rope for the money. If you climb short routes or at a gym with shorter walls you and your buddy could split the cost of the rope and cut it in half.
