Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
I use this in the winter, it fits in my pack and keeps my water from freezing. I like the ability to sip as i walk as well, it saves time and makes the awkwardness of the system worth while. I would use it for very dry areas where I would need to carry extra water and in areas where I had to pump and filter a lot of water. I just put it on top of everything in my pack, above the waterproof bag that keeps everything else dry and I don't worry about having a leak. I consider this to be my bomb proof water system. You don't have to use the sipping tube, you can just carry water in it and you can bring it for part of the trip where you may need to carry lots of water, it doesn't take up much space when it's empty. When traveling near an easy water source I leave it behind and just use plastic soft drink bottles to save weight but then I am beginning to miss the sipping tube.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
We planned on using this for backpacking and bought the hydration kit because we were looking for a larger bladder than the standard 3L. There was a slight plastic taste which didn't bother us too much. Somehow, when we packed the packs the night before to weigh them, the bladder started leaking where the hydration kit attached to the bag as well as from the spout of the drinking tube even when it was locked. The bag looks heavy duty but the possibility of any leaking is not acceptable for us on the trail. I think this would work better for camping, not backpacking.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
pay the extra money for MSR quality. the spout is super convenient, and for bigger pours and fills, the whole things screws off (maybe that's obvious...) the bag is basically impenetrable.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
AWESOME product. I've had no leakage issues. Dispensing water is also easy... once you get a hang of it. One method is to hold the bag by the top so that the spout is at the top end, remove the cap, and then squeeze the bag to dispense as much water as you want in a controlled manner.
Great for water supply at camp.
Even my friends with other bladders (including MSR camelback) are jealous of this product. Plus, you can buy a drinking hose attachment if you desire.
Tastes a little like plastic at first, but this goes away with time.
Bottom line - I'm never using a water bottle again.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
Took these on a trip down the Green River. The water tasted so terrible that we would have poured it out had there been any alternative to using it. Bags were difficult to handle and pour from; however, they were perfect for carrying water in our kayak. If we can find a way to remove the taste, we'll keep using them. If not, they will be history.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
This bag is very tough. I have had it out numerous times and I am not careful. I very often use it as a pillow in the summer. It does what a water bag should do. I have not had any issue with the spout. I actually love the design. If you are drinking from the bag you can use the flip spout. If you are filling a nalgene you unscrew the small cap. If you are filling the bag you use the big cap. The cap does stick out a bit however, which makes it a little bulky in my packs waterbag sleeve. I usually just place the bag right on top for easy access anyway though. There is a little plastic taste to the water. A buddy of mine said something about using a little baking soda or powder or something but the taste doesn't really bother me.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
I loved this product except I could never get the plastic taste to stop permeating the water and making it almost undrinkable. I also had problems with the outer cap that has the small spout leaking. I have returned this item due to the leak in the cap and also due to the terrible tasting water. I tried everything to clean the bag but nothing worked.

The swiveling handle is a great feature. Also like the red color. No 'dromedary' taste in the water so far either, which is a plus.

Comments about MSR DromLite - 4 Liter:
I borrowed several DromLite's from a friend. The first issue is that the spout tends to pop open and spill water, leaving your clothes and sleeping bag wet and you without water. So, you have to keep the spout taped shut with duct tape or otherwise it pops open and leaks. Also, they are very difficult to fill completely without spilling a lot of water and pour incredibly slow through the spout.

One of these in my packpack, along with 2 Nalgene Bottles solves my water problem for a weekend camping trip. I fill up at my last water source, usually only a couple of miles from my campsite, and I am set for supper, breakfast, and refilling a 32 oz bottle to start the next day.
I bought this for a 2-day winter camping trip to reduce my need to melt large amounts of snow at the end/start of the day.
The bladder stayed flexible in 5F cold, and never split while camping/hiking on Mt. Washington and
Tuckerman's Ravine this past New Years weekend.
After using it once and finding it so durable, I am buying a second one for my son.
The grommet on the end is perfetly suited for hanging at camp so that you can wash your hands, hair, etc... if you want to.
The only down side is 4 liters of water weighs 8lbs, so you do not want to carry it too far.
